216 years and counting

OldWant to get a head start on next year's planting season?

The 2008 Old Farmer's Almanac is scheduled to be released Wednesday, Sept. 12.

The 258-page soft-cover book offers an array of information for the home gardener, including:

  • Frosts and growing seasons.
  • Outdoor planting table.
  • Symbolic meanings of herbs, flowers and trees.
  • "Secrets of Farmers' Markets."
  • "Fragrant Flowers," a list of which plants give off scents like cherry pie a la mode, bittersweet chocolate and cloves & nutmeg.
  • The book sells for $9.95.
