The center is one of eight organizations battling it out in a national competition to win an organic garden from Reader's Digest magazine.

The competition initially had more than 1500 applicants.

First plant sale blows in

Pot The Garden Club of Harrington Park will hold a "Mostly Perennials" plant sale 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 25 at the parking lot of the borough hall, Harriot Avenue and Herring Street.

The sale will feature a selection of perennials from the familiar to the unique, both shade and sun varieties.

Earth Day wildflower walk

Earth The Tenafly Nature Center will host an Earth Day Wildflower 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 18.

A walk led by a naturalist. Participants will learn about pollination adaptations.

Martin is has been featured in "Garden Design," "House & Garden" and "0." She also appears on the PBS series "Culitvating Life."
