NHL approves schedule change
Well, the Devils won't be seeing the Rangers, Islanders, Flyers and Penguins eight times a season anymore. The NHL's Board of Governors approved today a schedule change that will reduce the number of divisional games to six, which will allow each team to face every team in the opposite conference at least once (plus, three at-large interconference games). In other words, the cushy travel schedules for the Eastern Conference teams are about to get a little harder.
The change, which basically reverts the schedule format back to what it was before the lockout, will take affect next season.
Thank god. I think I watched the Rangers play the Islanders for the 5th time already and we are not even 2 months in.

This is good news. I think it will be great to see the other teams again.

Agreed this was awsome for the first season it was implemented, but it has gotten really tiresome.
During the 8 game strech against divisional opponents we had, I wasn't sure how much longer I would be able to watch us play the same team.

If they scheduled it better, it'd be more enjoyable.
I think they should stick with 8 games in division, and play the other 25 teams twice, regardless of conference. Regardless of whether your in New Jersey and Los Angeles, you get Detroit in twice, and you deal with the deathdraw of Florida twice.

Awesome. Although they draw really bad numbers, I love seeing us play teams like Dallas. It is so much more interesting to see a different team on the ice.

I sure hope the Devils get more Saturday home games next season. A new arena and only 5 Saturday regular season home games this year? Crikey.
