Defensive help might soon be on the way for the Devils, but probably not for tonight’s game in Philadelphia. Colin White, who hasn’t played all season after being struck in the right eye with the puck during a Sept. 18 practice, said today that he has been cleared medically to play in games. In fact, he has been for some time. He said he “doubted” he would play against the Flyers, though.
"I've been cleared to play, as of for total contact," he said. "The only thing that would actually hurt me would be to get a direct hit (to the eye) again. It's going to be up to me. It's when I feel comfortable and when I feel ready that's when I'll let (GM Lou Lamoriello) and the coaches know."
Doctors told White on Wednesday that the pressure in his right eye was “back to normal" for the first time since he was injured. He said the pressure was 11 on Wednesday after being as high as 28 after the injury. His vision in his right eye is still blurred, though.
Devils coach Brent Sutter said after tonight's game that Martin Brodeur will start again in net Saturday against the Flyers. That will be his fourth try at reaching the 500-win mark.
The normal range for the eye pressure is between 10 and 20.
So White's eye pressure is normal. If White does not play saturday then the Devils will lose to the Flyers.
TG, please tell Lou to go out and trade for a physical defenseman who is great at breakout passes. Turnovers and a lack of a physical presence on the Devils blue line is the reason for all these losses.

I'm glad to see Marty gets the nod. Starting Weekes would send the wrong message to the team.

White actually likes to check people. Obviously this will be a problem for Sutter since he does not like his players to play physical.
