I have to correct myself from earlier. Devils GM Lou Lamoriello said the team will have another player named to the Eastern Conference all-star squad by the end of tonight. He would not reveal who that player was, though. The most likely candidate is Zach Parise.
Also, Cam Janssen has been placed on long-term injured reserve today retroactive to the start of the season and sent down to Lowell of the AHL. Lamoriello said he will play in Lowell's game against Worcester on Wednesday.
Thats more like it,Zach Attack would make an excellent choice and so would Maddog (if He does not get the nod He's still an Allstar in My book). So I'm assuming that We will not be seeing Slam anytime soon unless another injury pops up, poor Slam, I get the reason why though, the Team is playing well and Pando will be back soon. (I hope)

Cam's not up for the rest of the season. Lou is tweaking his cap space. The question remains, does he pull off a major or minor move? He generally doesn't make any major roster shake-ups at this stage in the season so I don't see him trading any impact players to make a one time shot at the Cup this year and disrupting what fragile chemistry the team has. There are too many quality UFA's this year so I don't see him pursuing any of them until after the season so he doesn't have to give up anything in return, especially any up and coming stars or prospects.

How will the rosters get resolved, if both conferences already have 21 options each? I assume they'd HAVE to add a Devil to give each team a rep, so will they expand the roster to 22 players and give the West another man?
It'd be difficult to tell an Eastern skater that he's no longer invited to make room for a Devil.

TG,
Eklund is saying that Phaneuf to NJ is a rumor that's floating around out there. Thoughts?

Wow what a game!

TG - by putting Cam on LTI does that mean he'll stay in Lowell for the remainder of the season or is he still able to be brought back up after a few games (conditioning assignment?) The way I see it there's no room at the Inn for Cam in Newark.

The Lowell Devils are supposed to host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins this Wednesday, 1/23. The next Wednesday game vs. the Worcester Sharks will be 2/6. So is it possible Lou meant that Janssen won't be ready to play in Lowell for 2 more weeks?

Nothing like a visit to the friendly confines of the Wachovia Center to cure what ills our Devs. Johnny Oh-No turns into Johnny Oh-My.....Oh-Wow.....Oh-Yes! Clarkson aggravates the Flyers to no end. The power play unit makes up for lost time by scoring on five.....FIVE!!!!....power plays. The PK unit kills off a 5 on 3 without giving up a shot.
Suddenly both Ottawa and Pittsburgh are missing their big guns, Philly's confidence is shot to hell again despite their hot run, and neither of the New York teams can sustain a run. This may be one of the more interesting trade deadlines in recent memory.

Jim A - I'm not sure what effect it has on anything, but Colorado is also without an All-Star with Stastny out due to injury. So I guess it could concievably happen, though I have no idea what the rules are. Then again, it's the NHL's game, so I guess they could adjust the rules however they want, eh?

Lou said Lowell was playing Worcester. I should have checked.

If Eklund says it, it must be true.
Posted by: TG | January 22, 2008 at 11:03 PM
TG, do you actually know Eklund??? Something tells me he's Koharski-esque and therefore the league should sick Schoenfield on him.
Posted by: Vishal | January 23, 2008 at 12:32 AM
I know who Eklund is. I've never spoken to him, but seen him at games in Philadelphia. The Flyers actually give him a credential.

Hmmm Phaneuf would be nice and even tho i doubt highly it will happen id still hate the thought of losing Parise.

"If Eklund says it, it must be true."
Truly terrific sarcasm TG!
Thanks for the updates!
