I don't know if this is a precursor to anything, but the Devils have finally activated Cam Janssen from injured reserve. They just sent out the official word. Janssen is not in Carolina with the team and is not expected to play in Tuesday night's game.
With this, I assume there is a Devils player on the move.

i have a feeling that janssen will be gone by tomorrow just because they acticated him but dont play on playing him or dressing him or him being in the same city with the team. i hope not...that means i would have a janssen jersey that i would need to be switched. if anything, im hoping that the team will get rid of one or two dman just because even though they arnt playing great, they wouldnt be sitting anywhere else...they would be playing pretty much everyday.

I wouldnt be surprised to see Janssen included in a trade if only to make the salary cap numbers work. St. Louis could be a destination. It's Cam's hometown, and there are rumors that Lou may be interested in acquring Jay McKee or Barret Jackman.

i dont think cam gets traded he doesnt have to be activated to get traded i think maybe asham or even sarge could be gone

Barret Jackman was just re-signed for 4 years by St.Louis, forget about him. Janssen can be activated now..it doesn't mean someone has to be on the move. Pelley is down in Lowell.

Yes, Jackman has re-signed with the Blues for four years. It's on the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Web site.

TG, does this mean someone has to be removed from the Devils roster in place of Janssen?
Posted by: Steve Lepore | February 25, 2008 at 09:12 PM
They had the spot open from Pelley being in Lowell so this makes sense. Also, after tomorrow rosters expand so he would have been back anyway. We Want Cam! Can't wait till he plays.

I just got Lou Lamoriello on the phone for a few minutes and he explained that as of midnight tonight, the 23-man roster no longer applies. You can have as many players on your roster as you want as long as you're not over the cap. So, with no reason to hold that 23rd spot open any longer, the Devils activated Janssen.
"We were holding that spot open in case something happened," Lamoriello said. "Nothing happened and now we're activating him. Don't read anything else into it."
In other words, it's not a precursor to or related to another move that's yet to be announced.
At least that's what Lamoriello said.

Since Jackman is resigned, I reaaaaally hope that the Devils aren't talking to St. Louis. Bryce Salvador is a 5/6 d-man which we have plenty of, and Jay McKee has that massive contract. No thanks.

good call, rosters do expand tomorrow so this was prob gonna happen anyway ... finally, get asham out of there and let Cam play
Posted by: scotty c | February 25, 2008 at 09:19 PM
Congrats Cam, can't wait to see you back in there.
Posted by: MikeK | February 25, 2008 at 09:24 PM
Lamoriello said the team was going to activate Janssen regardless.
By the way, Jackman gets four years, $14.4 million.

Congrats Cam! I think Cam is a great guy but there is absolutley no one on the roster that he should play over. Hell, I can think of four guys in Lowell I rather have playing than him. Please send Cam to Lowell, it's where he belongs.

Bring Back Cam!

I don't like the fact that we're not going to be making a trade, at least any real significant one. This is NOT cup winning team as of now, I'm sorry to say.

just very interesting that this happens on trade day eve. Why not wait till all the transactions are sorted out. Got a feelin something must be brewing. If there are roster moves it is possible that we might be trading depth players for picks. That would make sense why the Devs would activate Cam tonight. This would make sure that they would have enough players for tomorow nights game. I could be wrong but I'm just speculating.

Well, forget my earlier prediction. Prospal to Philadelphia for conditional pick (second or third rounder) and D Alexandre Picard.
Posted by: TG | February 25, 2008 at 10:06 PM
prospal just went to philly
Posted by: Chris J. | February 25, 2008 at 10:07 PM
Very very nice pickup for the Flyers
Posted by: jdr30 | February 25, 2008 at 10:08 PM
dam...i was hoping for prospal
Posted by: Chris J. | February 25, 2008 at 10:09 PM
It's Philadelphia's second-rounder in 2009 if the Flyers make the 2008 conference finals or Calgary's 2009 third-round pick if the Flyers don't reach the conference finals.

Wow. That kinda sucks. We could've gotten Prospal
Posted by: James | February 25, 2008 at 10:12 PM
wow Philly got him for chump change. dang. glad i got him on my fantasy team and just picked up Hartnell.. Prospal's +/- was pretty bad in tampa. woo.
SUCKS NJ COULDN'T LAND HIM for a stinkin pick and a dman.

Come on .. We should all know from recent years the Devils are not going to make any moves. However I think anyone would agree that the team we have right now is not a Stanley cup contender .. just too inconstant.
