Martin "sore all over"

Devils defenseman Paul Martin will miss tonight's game in Montreal with an undisclosed. Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello said Martin was "sore all over". Devils coach Brent Sutter said Martin was "a little banged up."

Sheldon Brookbank will take Martin's usual spot alongside of Johnny Oduya. Karel Rachunek will also play tonight in place of rookie Andy Greene, who will be a healthy scratch. Rachunek will be paired with Bryce Salvador. The Colin White-Mike Mottau pairing will remain intact.

Sutter hinted he might shake up his forward lines, as he did near the end of Friday's 4-0 loss to Washington. The Devils have scored only three goals (two in regulation) in their last three games.

The Devils will be without assistant coach Larry Robinson for the second game in a row. Robinson remained in New Jersey with the flu and a severe sinus infection. Sutter said the doctor would not allow Robinson to fly.

Incidentally, I was the only Devils' beat writer to make it to Montreal. Rich Chere is home sick and Mark Everson, apparently, had some trouble with his house.

It's a little strange being here by myself. There's quite a bit of snow on the ground and it's been snowing/raining on and off all day.

Wow, I would imagine it being odd being there on your own.
Hopefully these d pairings will work well together. They need to put forth a much better effort than yesterday that is for sure.
Take care TG and let's go Devils!

House problem? What did someone burn his house down? Wouldn't surprise me.

aha

I'm resisting the urge to make an inappropriate comment about Everson and his house. Hope all is well for him (seriously!). Ditto with Robinson.

TG, were you also invited to see Bruce Springsteen with Sherry Ross and Rich Chere? She mentioned the show a few times last night on the radio but said Rich Chere couldn't make it because he was fighting a bug.

Get well soon Larry!

I was feeling iffy about this game with Martin in the line up...now...ugh. Lets hope they find a way to pull it out.

Sherry and I will be attending the show together tomorrow night here at the Moslon Centre. Rich was supposed to go with us to the show in Hamilton on Monday night. I haven't heard if he'll definitely not make it, yet.

The Devils originally told us they would be staying in Canada during the two days between the games here and Toronto, so I made my flight plans to stay up here. Then, they decided to go back to New Jersey between games, but it was too late for me to change my flights. So, I might as well have a good time and see two Springsteen shows while I'm stuck up here.

How a Jersey boy spends his time in Canada: seeing Bruce Springsteen. I like it!

(I'm assuming your a Jersey boy anyway. It fits for the cliche!). Have a blast TG.

I wonder if this soreness Martin had was the same he had a few weeks ago. If he is really hurt, and Lou knew about it before Tuesday, shame on him for not bringing in an offensive d-man before the deadline. Martin and Oduya are better on the PP than any of our other d-men. Hopefully Pauly won't be out for too long

TG

I was just reading the article "Brodeur deserves Hart" on North Jersey.com. Did you write that? There was no name on it. Marty deserved to win it last year, I think Crosby won it too soon, Marty should win it this year, but there is of course the obvious bias against Brodeur from the league, hope he can pull it out. I grew up in Montvale NJ and I miss reading the Bergen Record every day, I looked into having it delivered to South Brunswick, NJ, but it's not possible, LOL. Thank you for the great Devils coverage over the years

Don't you mean the Bell Center TG? JK, who really cares? Haha.

Something in the back of my head must still want to call it Molson Centre.

Brookbank-Oduya? Uh, okay. But nice to see Rachunek back in. Maybe he can help our anemic PP.

I hope Larry gets well soon. Best wishes to Chere as well. I'm a terrible person by nature, but I'll keep my thoughts about Everson and his house to myself. And don't be too lonely all by yourself, Tom.

What is up with scoring and penalteys taken by Rupp and Langs????? Where is Parise??? Was he in the lineup tonight?

As always, the reffing was magnificent. Stupid pig.

Langs penalty was a phantom call. BRUTAL. Wasn't shocked when I saw Eric Furlatt's name on the box score (Koharski, is spite of the history, is fairly good most of the time). I mentioned last month that he and Kevin Pollack just don't like the Devils, whether subconsciously or otherwise. It's amazing that an NFL referee is a weekend job and they do 100 times better than an full time NHL ref. What's really insulting is that these guys will likely get to ref in the playoffs. It made me feel good that Sutter, who never blames officiating, called them out.

Not only did the habs win on a bad call on Langenbrunner, but they were off sides. The league should do something to these refs and linesemen. Nice to see Daneyko riled up.

Reffing was our problem the hole year, starting with no gol in Washington on M.Matoes try.

You know something's not right when Kenny and Chico are upset about it.

Why did Elias get that Penalty at the end of the Game when Langs was getting ambushed? and why did The Habs Player not get put in the box for Attacking Langs? He was no way near Their Goaltender. I don't get it, what did I miss there?
