The Devils called up defenseman Jay Leach and right wing Patrick Davis from Lowell today on an emergency basis.
I don't know if that means that Brian Gionta and Bryce Salvador won't play tonight, yet. I'll post an update when I get one.
« Tallackson off long-term injured reserve; still in Lowell | Main | Gionta out tonight; Salvador likely to play; Clemmensen to start »

At least it's not Tallackson...
I don't know much about either players, but they'll probably get 5 minutes of ice time anyway.

hey folks, I dont know about the rest of you, but I have never even heard of these guys... This could be the season they dont make it I suppose but no one in their right mind could have anticipted this type of disaster.

wel, Leach is the captain of Lowell, so I have heard of him. He is by no means a prospect, he is very old (29). Davis on the other hand I have no idea about.
Posted by: mikeford | November 09, 2008 at 05:18 PM
They both had a good game last night playing Bridgeport.
Davis had 2 goals.

Where is my boy Pelley? That dude can throw some mean body checks. Does anyone know if he is injured?
Posted by: Mike C | November 09, 2008 at 05:24 PM
Davis is almost 23 and has 5 G and 6 P in 11 games in Lowell. Neither player is anything spectacular.
yes, Leach > Brookbank. Everyone > Brookbank
Posted by: Merms | November 09, 2008 at 05:27 PM
Yes, Pelley is injured, he has missed the last few games in Lowell.
Posted by: DevilsFan38 | November 09, 2008 at 05:28 PM
Pelley has been scratched the last 2 nights (i was at the bridgeport game yesterday and my sister was at the pengins game friday night) So i dont know if that means an injury or what...
Davis had 2 nice goals yesterday, and Leach is a solid D man. so if they are needed, they'll do fine
Posted by: HeyNow | November 09, 2008 at 05:28 PM
Leach old at 29? Geeze some of us now have our feelings hurt. Time to crack open another beer. I Only have a certain amount left to consume at my age.
He is a good player but just below NHL level.
He's gritty and is a decent D man.
He isn't very big but his heart is smarter than his head sometimes.
I've seen him play a few times.
Posted by: Prokat | November 09, 2008 at 05:31 PM
could we not call up Vasyunov... he has 2 goals yesterday too..
this game is getting scary...
Posted by: LuziferDevs | November 09, 2008 at 05:33 PM
I'm thinking we all know what this means about who is not playing tonight. Geeze!
Posted by: Shari | November 09, 2008 at 05:37 PM
Holy crap... just to keep track, it looks like we now have 5 rookies playing tonight. 5!!!
Vrana
Salmela
Bergfors
Leach
Davis
Injury count is through the roof: Brodeur, Martin, Gionta, Salvador, Greene, Holik, Rolston, Halischuk, Tallackson... Am I missing anyone?
If we can win, the Oilers are pathetic...

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the ice, your Lowell Devils!!!

what fans will be recalled on an emergency basis tonight?
Posted by: BishopQ | November 09, 2008 at 05:47 PM
Forgot about Leblond
Posted by: Robbie | November 09, 2008 at 05:47 PM
can we just switch the teams... let the usual new jersey devils line up play for lowell on tueday
and the lowell devils can play for us tonight?
i think it wud help our team a lot.
Posted by: LuziferDevs | November 09, 2008 at 05:48 PM
so 29 is the new 70? A little harsh ;). At least I can call my fiance old (even though he's 2 years older than I am). I plan on laughin at him when he turns 30 in 4 years just for the simple fact he's 30... haha.
I thought last nights game went pretty well, minus the scoring department. Weeksie should have had a few of those goals but you can't blame him for the loss. It's almost like they wanted to play at the Wings level of play (skill-wise) but just couldn't get the puck in the net. I wasn't mad at their effort at all. I hope they continue their efforts against the Oil and score a little more tonight.
