Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello just said there will be no update coming today on goaltender Martin Brodeur's injured left elbow.
"We're still going through all the tests and evaluation," Lamoriello said.
In fact, Lamoriello said that Brodeur did not have his X-rays and MRI until today and not Sunday like he said Sunday morning.
"Those are things you sometimes wait to do," Lamoriello said. "We go on the recommendations of physicians."
It is not uncommon for doctors to recommend waiting for swelling to subside before having an X-ray or MRI to make certain they obtain a clear picture.
When asked why the process is taking so long, Lamoriello replied, "This is what you go through. You make sure everything is as it should be."
Lamoriello said Brodeur has not gone outside New Jersey to seek opinions from other doctors.
"He's in New Jersey," Lamoriello said.
Lamoriello said he still didn't know if the injury is a major or minor one.
"I couldn't answer that," he said. "I want to be straightforward as we can. There is nothing right now. Any information that I give you could be misleading or misrepresentation at this point."
He also wouldn't say if he was optimistic.
"I'm the same as I was yesterday," he said.
OK. Now I'm scared.

One things almost for sure: It's more than a bruise. The question is how much more?

I find it hard to beleive that your franchise player, who never sits a game and takes himself out Saturday night.. Waits till Monday to get it looked out...
Come on Lou what do you think we are stupid...

I don't think they didn't have it looked at until today, but as I said above it's not uncommon to wait to have tests such as an MRI or X-ray until swelling subsides.

Good to hear e is staying in jersey because the last thing I want to hear is he is going down to Birmingham to meet with Dr. James Andrews.

We have to face the reality that this is a serious injury and that Marty will be out for a long time. Hopefully this team can rally around Weekes until Marty comes back.

I'm curious what Lou will do IF Marty is going to be out awhile. Weekes does have experience as a #1 goalie, but his past history shows that the more work he gets, he has a tendency to get tired which results in poor play for him, and in some cases, injury. I would be curious if Lou knows this and makes a play for another goalie to help out Weekes, such as Dwayne Roloson, who will be a UFA after the season like Weekes(forget Khabibulin - would take up too much cap space).
Granted Brodeur outclasses Weekes/Roloson anytime of the day/week/year/millenium, but I would feel better with 2 experiences goalies sharing the load rather than overwork Weekes and Clemmer as the backup
