Looks like Clemmensen is headed to NJ

According to the AHL's Web site, the Devils reassigned goaltender Jeff Frazee from Trenton of the ECHL to Lowell today. That seems to indicate that Scott Clemmensen will be headed to New Jersey to back up Kevin Weekes in Monday night's game against Buffalo.

Weekes will be making his first start of the season for the Devils after making 14 saves in relief in a 6-1 win over Atlanta on Saturday after Martin Brodeur went down with his left elbow injury in the second period.

Frazee was recalled by the Devils from Trenton on an emergency basis so he could be the second goalie at their practice this morning.

There's no transaction involving Clemmensen -- or Lowell backup Dave Caruso -- being sent to New Jersey on the AHL site, yet.

Clemmensen, 31, played 25 total games for the Devils as Brodeur's backup from 2003-04 to 2006-07. He went 7-6-4 with a 2.82 goals-against average and two shutouts.

Clemmensen is 4-3-1 with a 3.46 GAA and .895 save percentage in eight games with Lowell this season.

any news on our boi TG? i know you probably would have reported it but im worried. when do you think they are going to let us in on whats going on?

thanks

Brodeur got a mention on Sunday Night Football, funny. Announcer just said the Colts have everyone back on defensive except Matin Brodeur.

^^ I just heard that!

^^^^^^^

Good to know NBC actually remembers hockey.

i didnt hear it but it was probably al miachels, you may remember for one of the most famous hockey calls in history "DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES, YES" so al knows hockey

I have faith that weekes can play some good games while marty is out... in my mind the more important question is whether our defense will do the same

I think the only reason Frazee was called up first was because he was in Trenton and it would take a little longer for Clemmy to make it down from Lowell. Weeksie will definitely do fine. They all believe in him so let's hope the D holds up in front of him and plays a solid game. Hopefully Zach will chip in as well and keep the streak goin (knock on wood).

TG how long was Weeks out or couldn't play because of his torn bicept? I know it was over the summer, but what type of time frame are we or could we be looking at?

TG, does Clemmensen need to clear re-entry waivers to be called up?

Let's not jump to the conclusion that Brodeur definitely has a torn biceps tendon. I don't know the time frame Weekes had. I think it was at least a couple of months, but it was during the summer so there wasn't really a need to rush it.

I think Clemmer signed a minor league deal with Lowell so he should be fine.

I think we will be more of a threat now that we have something to prove. They will go out knowing they don't have Marty behind them and play more offensive. Don't get me wrong, I HATE that Marty is out and it is extremely scary, but maybe they need a few games played without him to get more confidence in the team's offense. Let me know what you guys think!

orgugg44 - Sometimes a team will elevate it's play when an important player goes down but it's rarely something that lasts long term so let's just hope the guys pay more attention to details defensively as a group. Tonight will be a good indicator because Buffalo is a huge step up in talent compared to that pitiful Atlanta team we beat up Saturday. I'm all for looking at positives but any time your franchise player is out it's NOT a good thing and everyone knows this team is built around Marty. Weekes is a good backup but over his career he's been VERY streaky (as we saw in the playoffs in 2002) and he's not the kind of guy you want in there every night. If Marty's out for any length of time we are in trouble and we will be in a dogfight for a playoff spot. Let's just hope it's minor and he'll only miss a couple of games.

I will be there tonight, and i think weekes will do just fine out there for whatever length of time Marty needs to get better. We just need to take things one game at at time, and go from there. So lets just keep our eyes on Buffalo(a tough team this year) and move forward from there to Tampa Bay. and then Detroit after that, and so on and so forth. The team will be fine

All we can do is pull together and hope the injury does not keep Marty out very long.

Anyone think the 2nd Parise goal on Saturday was one of our best goals in the last few seasons? Tape to Tape and in the net.
