Devils defenseman Paul Martin was happy to see that former teammate David Hale finally scored his first NHL on Wednesday night in Phoenix's 3-1 win over Columbus. Hale and Martin roomed together when they were rookies with the Devils in 2003-04 and still stay in touch.
Hale scored in his 231st NHL game, which was a league record for most games before scoring a goal.
"I usually don't check the box scores, but (Thursday) I did and I happened to see it," Martin said. "I called him up to ask him if it was a misprint."
Can Martin really give him sh*t. Hale is one behind him.

I'll take Hale on this team over Mottau. Also, when Andy is healthy and back in, it's a crime that Annsi would be sent back down. If we rode out the first year mistakes of Johnny we can do it with Annsi. There is no upside with Mottau, just a hopeful "solid" with him.

Sorry, just wanted to add that David Hale is a solid D man and I'm happy for him. Remember, David really stood up for his teammates here and he was never known as a fighter. He is a solid player and I rather deal with his solid then Mottau on this team. That was the point. Can't wait for Andy to be back.

Martin didn't have to play 231 games before getting his first NHL goal. Hale is Martin's friend and it's obvious he was just teasing him. My brother does it to his friends all the time. Isn't that how guys show affection or something?

That's a pretty funny comment from Martin.
