As some of you already know, former Devils coach Pat Burns is battling cancer again, according to an article in today's edition of LaPresse in Montreal.
The article says the cancer is in Burns' lungs this time. He previously battled colon and liver cancer.
Burns, 56, said he learned the cancer had returned after he got back from working as an assistant coach for Canada in the World Championships last spring.
After undergoing chemotherapy to fight the cancer the first two times, Burns, 56, told LaPresse that he is undergoing a different kind of treatment this time, but did not get specific.
Burns stills works for the Devils as a special assignment coach and often scouts games in Florida and Tampa Bay.
It always seems to happen to the best people. Get well soon, Burnsie.

Is it possible that he absorbed too much chemo during the first two treatments and can't go that route anymore?
Had me fooled. I thought he looked in pretty good shape at Patrick Roy's jersey retirement ceremony.

Keep fighting the good fight Burnsie! He's got to be tough to fight off colon and liver cancer, hopefully he's got plenty left in the tank to fight this one off too.

all the best burnsie...keep the faith...sincerely, your extended family

It would be nice for Lou to invite him to a game if he is able and have the fans recognize him for his Cup winning contribution. But don't hold your breath...Not what Lou does.

With the game in Montreal this weekend, we might see him there. However, I wouldn't hold my breath on that one, either.
The Devils also play the Panthers on Feb. 17 and the Lightning on Feb. 19. Perhaps MSG+ can get Burns to sit down with Cangialosi during an intermission.

That would be nice so he can hear the cheers from his extended family. Like you said though Jersey Jeff i doubt it happens unfortunately

I really hope the "new treatment idea" or however he put it isn't to just go out and make the most of his remaining time, but that is a destinct possiblity with lung cancer.
All the best and my hopes and prayes go out to burns for a speedy recovery.
Hey burnsie try to make it a FULL recovery this time. we want you to stick around for a while.

Did you ever think that maybe Burns wouldn't want the attention? He has much more important things on his plate and I can't see him wanting the recognition anyway. Don't fault Lou for something like that.
