Charles Emrick, father of Devils' television broadcaster Mike "Doc": Emrick, passed away on Sunday night.
“Everyone in the entire New Jersey Devils organization is deeply saddened by the loss of Charles Emrick," Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello said in a statement. "Mike Emrick and his family have been a part of the Devils’ family for 19 years and part of the hockey community for 36 years. Our thoughts and prayers right now are with Mike and his family."
The funeral will take place this Thursday. Charles Emrick is survived by his wife, Mary, sons Dan and Mike, and daughter-in-law Joyce. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Building Fund, First United Methodist Church, 624 South Adams St., Marion, IN 46953 in the name of Charles Emrick.
I offer my condolences as well to the entire Emrick family. We all know Mike has been battling laryngitis. Hopefully, he'll be healthy soon.
Sincere condolences to Doc and his family. I think he missed a game earlier this year because he was celebrating his father's 90th birthday.

Sucks. Condolences to Doc and the Emerick family. Doc looks pretty old which makes me wonder how old his father was.

It is a sad thing to lose one's father. Even as an adult, it leaves a feeling of emptiness in a person's life. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Emrick family.

My condolences to Doc and the family. Doc is such a gentleman -- he was extremely nice to my (then little) kids in 95 and 96 when we had Weekend Plan seats, very close to the announce table. He deserves our deepest sympathy.
