Lowell Devils goaltender Jeff Frazee was named today to play for the PlanetUSA team in the AHL All-Star Classic on Jan. 26 in Worcester, Mass.
Frazee began this season in the ECHL with the Trenton Devils, but was promoted to Lowell when Scott Clemmensen was called up to New Jersey on Nov. 2 following Martin Brodeur's injury.
Frazee, the Devils' second round draft pick in 2005, turned pro last spring after losing his starting job at the University of Minnesota. He has re-established himself as one of the Devils' top prospects by going 10-6-2 this season with a 2.31 goals-against average and an AHL-leading .932 save percentage.
Frazee, 21, was the only player from Lowell selected to play in the all-star game.
Good for him... TG quick question i havnt seen it anywhere yet but Elias scored with 31.2 Seconds left in the game... The Refs resumed play with 21.5 Seconds left... Am I going crazy or should I expect this when we play the South?

Again just checked the game yesterday and it looks like the clock keeps running after Elias scored... I just find it very hard to believe no one has picked up on this yet...

I was actually screaming at the TV when i saw what the clock said after Elias scored. It makes no sense

I think the TV clock was off, not the actual clock. I think Chico or Steve said the time remaining as ~20 seconds left when the Devils scored.
It's been a pretty remarkable turnaround for Frazee. Based on his play in college, he barely deserved to be in the ECHL. Kudos to him for finding his game--he has some NHL talent. I doubt he'll make the most of it, but I'd love to be proven wrong.

Whatever clock you saw on TV was wrong.
I was at the game and looked up at the clock after Elias scored and there were 21.5 seconds left.
No one on the Devils missed anything. My guess would be that MSG Plus clock was off.

Apparently MSG had the wrong time, I was saying the same thing on the Devils HF board, it was MSGs fault

I think the clock that was displayed on the screen seemed to be going slower than actual time in the last minute. The clock displayed on the screen is not the actual clock from the arena. I think I remember seeing this one or twice before this season- maybe there's an issue with MSG's clock ?

I appreciate everyone's feedback, should have expected it was something with MSG... Again Congradulations to Jeff Frazee, seems to look like he is getting his confidence back...

hockeymanNJD,
Thanks for clearing it up, I noticed the 31 second #, and thought maybe I just looked at it wrong. Was too lazy to rewind it, but I'm glad you cleared it up for me so I know I wasn't seeing things. :)

MSG's clocks have been screwy lately. From not showing the amount of time on the power play, to having the power play time off by 15 seconds, and some miscues like the one last night...
Anyways, congrats to Jeff Frazee. Hopefully he can keep up the good work, as he has always had the talent. It's just the confidence and focus that killed him.

Congrats to Frazee. That has to be a big boost of confidence for him. It'll be interesting to see what the Devils do in the offseason for a backup goalie for Marty.

Mad props to Frazee for the turnaround. I went to UND for 3 years (while he was at the U of M) and you could just see his game (and confidence) going downhill. He let in a TON of soft goals and was eventually replaced by Kangas (who played phenomenal and gave Jeff no opportunity to get back in net). I'm glad he left the U of M and signed with us so we could work with him and build his confidence. Being named to the All-star game is a huge accomplishment for him. Let's hope he continues to improve and gets a look with the big squad in a year or two.
Question for you TG...Do you have any updates on Halischuk? When do you think he'll be back with Lowell?
Posted by: Brodeur30 | January 07, 2009 at 07:33 PM
I was at the game in Wilkes-Barre where Frazee really turned it around. It was the same game that Halischuk got hurt. Dave Caruso gave up 4 goals on 7 shots and was pulled half way through the first. Frazee came in and was unbelievable. Lowell only lost 4-0. Chris Tererri was the eye in the sky that night and our 10 second conversation was about how good Frazee looked.
It's good to see him getting recognized for his stellar play.

He has to be the biggest jack@ss ever

Regarding the clock, the same thing happened during either the first or second period as well.
It's great news for Frazee. This time last year it seemed as if he was going to be a bust but with the change of scenery he has really turned it around.

@Robbie
Completley agree. This has to rank as one of his most ridiculous rumours ever, and he's been pretty ridiculous before.

OMG... I just clicked on that link. The only thing funnier than that rumor are the comments. Everyone takes it totally seriously. Haven't they learned?

I read the comments too. They must be New Yorkers

Congrats to Jeff and Matt Cohen was selected from the T Devs for the ECHL All Star game.

The clock on TV was wrong, I remember flipping out because I thought they stole ten seconds or so from us. They don't really mess those things up at the actual game though so you have to assume the clock on tv was wrong.
Also congrats to Frazee, I know he has had a bumpy path up to this point in his career but from what I have heard about him he has raw talent and just needs to take care of the mental part of his game.

Tyler Eckford had a goal and an assist for Lowell tonight. You gotta figure he's going to push hard for a spot on the big squad next year. He's got 18pts in 32 games as a rookie. Just the smooth skating puck moving d-man that we need.

I'm watching NHL On The Fly and they predicted that Elias, Parise and Clemmer
