In the latest edition of his weekly column, Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur confirms that his goal is to return from his torn biceps tendon in the team's Feb. 26 home game against the Colorado Avalanche.
In the column, which has shifted to www.ruefrontenac.com from Le Journal because Brodeur is supporting the writers in a work stoppage at the Montreal newspaper, Brodeur writes under the headline, "I aim to return February 26", that he anticipates playing against the Avalanche, "if all is well."

I first reported earlier this month that Feb. 26 was the target for Brodeur's return.

Awesome, looks like we know which game will be a sellout then.

Any chance of Brodeur waiting until the 28th? That coupled with DOLLAR HOT DOG DAY will make for a huge gate!

I cannot wait!!! You've been missed in a big way Marty!

ladies and gents, we are one week away....WE MADE IT!
who would have thought when marty went down we would be 2nd in the conference approaching deadline.
i wish we could pull come comments from those few days. personally, i was extremely disappointed because i knew the potential of this team, and thought we had a great cup chance. once marty went down i wrote this season off and prayed to weekes for a miracle. great job everyone!

You can look at the comments in the arhives. Just click on November 2008 (at right) and all of the posts from that month -- including Nov. 4 when the Devils finally announced the extent of Brodeur's injury -- are in there.

Just got my ticket for that game... unbelievable that we'd be in such a strong position when he came back. October seems so far away now.

I ignored those faithless comments then. I have no desire to see them now. For everybody that jumped to conclusions that our team was done when marty was injured, go root for that team across the hudson.

Great piece of journalism TG. You got the date spot on and you did it from the super secretive Devils. Just incredible.

salvatore from garfield, i just checked out the comments from those first days (thanks TG). you would actually be very suprised. besides from the initial "oh my god, i am crying, throwing up, etc"; a vast majority of the comments were suprising positive. not many even called for a goalie trade, and some even thought this could be good for the team as a whole. we all let our emotions get the best of us, but i am simply shocked at how well this board took the news as a whole. great job devils fans for having faith.

I was reading those comments too. I love Chris's comment where he admitted he was a Rangers fan in Nov 4th's article and said sucks for us happy to see Weeksie get a chance the "EAST IS OURS".... He had no idea how wrong he would be months down the line when there team is almost at the brink of being out of playoff contention. I guess we got the last laugh. LOL!!!

i remember my favorite comment was, "Hold me, Tom"

my favorite was from yahoo fantasy hockey regarding weekes first appearance against the sabres. we were completed dominated during the game, and let up countless shots on goal. weekes played an allstar performance in yet...after the game yahoo gave recommendations about weekes, and it went something to the effect of...
it would be justifiable if weekes murdered the rest of his teammates for showing him no offense or defensive support.

Wait, you mean Mark Everson might be wrong??? I'm shocked at this turn of events.
Posted by: skeeter | February 18, 2009 at 04:51 PM
Where does Mark Everson get his information from...most of the news I read on the Post's page about the devils is contradictory to this blog...I believe TG over all others
