The General Assembly of the State of New Jersey passed a resolution honoring the Devils and NHL Diversity for their efforts with non-for-profit youth hockey organizations throughout the country. The resolution mentions the contributions of Trenton Devils goaltender Gerald Coleman, who is 25-8-1 for the Devils’ ECHL affiliate this season, as the first graduate of the NHL Diversity program to be drafted and play in the NHL. Coleman was drafted by Tampa Bay in the seventh round of the 2003 draft and played two games for the Lightning in 2005-06.
The resolution was written and presented by Assembly Majority Leader Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-Trenton) (no relation to Gerald) and Assemblywoman Cleopatra G. Tucker (D-Newark).
Great to see the organization giving back to the community
