Former Devil Jim Dowd will host "Hockey Night in Hoboken" on Saturday, May 9 at Willie McBride's Pub and Restaurant beginning at 7 p.m.
Devils defenseman Paul Martin and former Devil Ken Daneyko will also be on hand -- and, possibly, another current player, for the fundraising event, which will benefit Dowd's "Shoot for the Stars Foundation" for families in need and local children's orgainizations in New Jersey. Radio personality Scott Ferrall will serve as host.
The $25 donation includes admission, an autograph and photo session from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and an event T-shirt. A question and answer session will follow the photo session.
Live music will be provided by the band Pump City. There will also be giveaways of tickets, memorabilia, gym memberships and more.
Children are welcome to stay until 10 p.m. Willie McBride's free limo will provide transportation back and forth from the PATH.
To purchase tickets in advance, go to www.neco.com/hockeynight. For more information on the event, visit www.williemcbrides.com.

Swamp
not sure if you were kidding about phaneuf. would love to have him, but not if it costs us zajac, our best center who'll likely get better next year.
we do need to look for trades with teams who are in salary cap hell, like the flames. this is why flames mgmt can say what they want, but they cant sign cammy without trading someone else.
if my logic is correct on that front, you can probably get ollie for very little right now given 2010 cap uncertainty. this would allow flames to sign cammy, which i suspect is what they'd prefer. ollie is not the perfect 2nd line center for elias, but the guy has snarl, which we lack. problem is he snarls in the locker room as well.

Zajac is the only decent trading chip we have, unfortunately. It's too bad we didn't draft Oshie instead of Berfors, especially with Oshie being a ND player. That said, stud defensemen are a rare commodity, and I'd trade a promising center and other minor assets for one. You have to give up something to get something. Like Guerin for Arnott, or Arnott for Langs. Muller for Richer.

@MoreThan
I hope your joking. These guys gave heart and soul all year representing that crest. They have nothing to be ashamed of. At least next year, we will have another DIV CHAMP FLAG. Its not a stanley cup. But it shows how they played for 82 games. I remember lots of awsome games especially his deek and toe drag against florida after Marty went down, and he fired it in net. Devils will win another cup. Possibly not next year, or the year after. But its coming soon. By the way, P Martin will be on the ice during that final ictorious buzzer

OK, I need some advise. I own 4 jerseys, all replicas. Brodeur, Elias, Parise and Clemmensen (had to do it) I wanna buy 1 authentic jersey, but not sure which player. I am tossing it up between 4. Brodeur, Elias, Parise, and Clarkson. 5th choice is #31 Gulitti. Any advise?

P Mart is one of my favorite players... But I'm considering driving down from Rochester NY and telling him to "HOLD THE PUCK IN THE CORNER".

My Hubby bought me my first authentic jersey for Christmas, I decided to go with Parise because he is the future of this Franchise, and I can wear it for many years to come, when I finally got my Dano jersey that I always wanted he retired right after that.

Lamoriello #42.

I went with Parise, too, when I got mine. I figured he's be around for a while and I'd get my moneys worth.
Posted by: Rae | May 07, 2009 at 09:28 PM
i got Parise as well.... doesn't hurt my son's name is Zachary :)
Have a Pandolfo one which I've had for years..... so I've had better luck then I had with my Gilmour and Burke ones years ago

for real for real? Phaneuf..... wow, there must be some GOOOD weed going around your part of the world. the flames are never trading him, why would they? and i would be a guy who would be willing to deal Zajac for Phaneuf. DEFINITELY, and i love Travis, but Phaneuf WILL be the best defenseman in the NHL in another 4 years. Defensemen like him usually age quite well. But its a moot point, because its never going to happen.
and i dont want Jokinen anymore, the guy is NOT a game breaker, and it seems to me that he has never been a guy who can take over a game and control it the way that some people here think he does. Lets look at what he has done lately, and that is only put up 50 points this season, and only 15 since the trade to Calgary where he was playing with some very talented players. one thing that i will say for him is he did pretty well in his first taste of playoff action, putting up 5 points in 6 games with 2 goals and 3 assists. He still is not a game breaking option. Its a shame i was high on him last year too when he was rumored to be availible and was not happy that lou did not try, however, in hindsight it looks like the right move to pass on him and his mediocre 50 points this season.

Don't waste your money on Gulitti.

It's funny - there's just no way that any sort of "big name" player is coming to NJ. Bottom line.
I think there may be some sideways-type moves that free up some cap space for a serious move when Elias' contract runs out in 2013. One good thing about the Elias contract is that for the last three years, he only gets $5M. "Only" is a very relative term here, but an extra Mil is more ammo to make a move.
I mentioned Malhotra in an earlier post (along with Comrie whom we've discussed). He might be a similar-type player than Madden (if Lou doesn't feel like spending $4M on him) that could probably be picked up for under $2M.
Anyone feel like shooting me down? TG???
Posted by: Maxwell | May 07, 2009 at 11:13 PM
Maxwell, i think with Malholtra it all comes down to dollars and cents, and aside from game 6 and 7 i honestly thought Madden and Pandolfo did a great job, reminiscent of 2003, on the Staal line. the last 2 games though, weren't that bad either.... Marty should take his share of the blame on Staals goal especially
