In addition to its "Hockey Night Live: Free Agency Special," which will air at 10 p.m. Wednesday on MSG, the MSG/MSG Plus' summer hockey programming will include a tribute to left wing Patrik Elias, who became the Devils' all-time leader in points on March 17 against Chicago.
"Patrick Elias: Re-writing Devils History" will premiere Thursday at 8 pm. on MSG Plus. The network will re-broadcast seven memorable games in Elias' career, including the record-breaking game (which also happened to be the game in which Martin Brodeur broke the NHL regular season wins record).
The two-hour episodes will be hosted by Steve Cangialosi and Ken Daneyko;
Thursday, 8 p.m.: Episode #1: 2000 Eastern Conference Finals—Game 7: NJ Devils at Philadelphia Flyers (5/26/00) -- Elias scores series winning goal.
July 9: Episode #2: 2000 Stanley Cup Finals—Game 6: NJ Devils at Dallas Stars (6/10/00) --Elias sets up Jason Arnott's Cup winning goal in second OT and wins first Cup.
July 16: Episode #3: San Jose at NJ Devils (10/18/01) --- Elias— three goals, two assists; A-line combines for 12 points in a game.
July 23: Episode #4: NY Islanders at NJ Devils (3/30/03) -- Elias— four-goal game; Devils win 6-0.
July 30: Episode #5: 2006 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals—Game 1: NY Rangers at Devils (4/22/06) -- Elias has six points.
August 6: Episode #6: NJ Devils at Philadelphia Flyers (12/4/08) -- Elias scores game tying & game winning goals; OT goal ties Jaromir Jagr & Mats Sundin for most in regular season with 15
August 13: Episode #7: Chicago Blackhawks at NJ Devils (3/17/09) -- Elias breaks Devils franchise all-time scoring record with 702nd point.
The best goal for me was the one he scored against the Floppers in Game 7 back in 2000. That was awesome! :)

Still can't believe what the Hawks gave Blake. He's 39, and had a nice season last year, but IDK, to me just seems a lot for an old old dude.

Yeah, Patty!!!

Zorin.. you mean the Sharks. And that is a good deal for them. He could have gotten 5 million. Look at Blakes Production last year.

my favorite is tied between the Game 7 against the Flyers or Game 6 against Dallas

TG,
I know all of our contracts come along with the waiver "As per team policy, financial terms are not disclosed." How do the numbers actually become disclosed and how long does it normally take? Thanks TG.

Mikes...
Sharks..haha, IDK why I said the Hawks. Yah, He can go there, have a great reg. season again and get set home in round 1. Good deal for both of them.
I don't think he's getting $5M and we will never know. He did have a nice season putting up 10 goals and 35 assists in 73 games.
Posted by: Zorin | June 30, 2009 at 02:48 PM
Usually I get them quicker than this, but it might just mean that the contract is still being registered with the league and the NHLPA.

OK, I've added the Oduya contract info below. It's a three-year, $10.5 million contract. That's an average - and annual cap hit of -- $3.5 million. Oduya will make $3 million in 2009-10; $3.5 million in 2010-11 and $4 million in 2011-12.

TG,
Thanks. 4 Years 12 Million sounded alot better... but I guess ill take it!

I wonder if Game 2 (the 2OT cup winner vs. Dallas) will be shown in its entirety, or if it will be edited to fit in a normal hockey game window. And, if its shown in entirety (not like MSG has any other programming for the next 3 months!) if there will be commercials during overtime.

Anyone else concerned Oduya, White and Sal's contracts all expire in 3 years? I know everyone wants White gone now but it's hard to have to re-sign half your defensive corps in 1 year.
Posted by: Pat | June 30, 2009 at 03:15 PM
I think after his contract is up White is done. We have some god prospects on D in Lowell and just drafted 3 more so I think the plan is these must be ready in 3 years.

Salvador will be 36 in three years. It's better that his contract runs out at that time.
Really can't worry about replacing guys like White and Salvador in three years. By then, we should have new faces stepping in or ready to step in.

All of the episodes are two hours long, so it doesn't seem like they'd be able to fit all of the 2OT game vs. Dallas into that time frame.
Posted by: TG | June 30, 2009 at 03:22 PM
I agree, I hope to see many new faces over the next few years.
Posted by: Pat | June 30, 2009 at 03:25 PM
Pat, i think it's great that we will have that flexibility and the ability to shed the older, slower-footed guys like White and Sal when they start getting up there in age; I only wish it were a year earlier that the contracts expired. Corrente and Eckford seem to be 1-2 years away, and Brandon Burlon (currently a Soph tearing it up at U Michigan) could be 3-4 years away depending on when he decides to leave college. Lots of depth at D in the system.

Rollie's deal will be done in 3 years too.
Posted by: Zorin | June 30, 2009 at 03:33 PM
tg,
thoughts on adding someone like hal gill on defense. i feel we need that big, tough D that can move people out of the front of the net. this was a big problem in the postseason vs CAR. gill is 6'7 240 and fights. now add stanley cup champion to his resume. plus he would come cheap and a PC guy.
i think it could be a smart underrated signing by lou.
thoughts?

What happens with the equipment that nobody bought at the Draft Party? My friend wants to buy the Clemmensen Goalie pads for the $500 they had on it
Posted by: RickyM2 | June 30, 2009 at 03:41 PM
NHL.com is saying that Carolina is not expecting to resign Chad LaRose. He made $875, 000 last season. Anyone else think that at around $2 mil a year he would be a great replacement for Madden? He is the hardworking scrappy type this team could use, and he put up 19 goals last season, plus 11 points in the playoffs.
Posted by: maddening11 | June 30, 2009 at 03:41 PM
Isn't he a winger Maddening? I'd hate to see a third winger signed to play C.
Posted by: Pat | June 30, 2009 at 03:47 PM
I wish that White contract was running out tomorrow. Of course, the same with the ZuBust and Pandolfo. That's a lot of money tied up in dead weight for the next few years.
Posted by: Topshlf | June 30, 2009 at 03:49 PM
NHL.com has him listed as a C. Can't remember for sure, but I think he centered their checking line, which is why I think he'd be a younger, cheaper, better replacement for maddog. altho i'll have to get a new jersey, i would be in favor of it.

Larose played wing against the Devils. He had a real good playoffs. No sure where he'd fit with the Devils, though.
As for Hal Gil, he benefitted from the referees forgetting to call obstruction during the Finals. The guy is a terrible skater. There were Red Wings skating around him left and right and he was hanging on for dear life. It was similar in other playoff series.
The one area he was sort of effective in was the PK because he doesn't have to move as much. He just had to stay near the net.
But the guy moves slower than Daneyko at the end.
