The New Jersey State Assembly and New Jersey State Senate have declared June 18 to be "Martin Brodeur Day" in the Garden State and the Devils are inviting their fans on a complimentary trip on the "Devils Train to Trenton" to join in the celebration.
Brodeur will be honored in the state's capital that day for becoming the NHL's all-time leader in wins during the 2008-09 season. A group will meet at Prudential Center in the Amerihealth Pavilion lobby and walk to Newark Penn Station together to leave on the "Devils Train to Trenton" at 10:26 a.m.
As part of the trip, those participating will receive a mini goalie stick autographed by Brodeur, a complimentary box lunch and snack, a commemorative T-shirt, free parking in the Prudential Center's VIP Garage, a free train ride to Trenton with Devils' alumni and NJ Devil, and a chance to win the "best-dressed" contest to received autographed prizes.
Space will be limited, so register by Monday, June 8.
To register and for more information, visit http://devils.nhl.com/traintotrenton.htm.
How does this look as a reasonable estimate of the starting training camp depth list. I put players in order of where they can reasonably be expected to play based on what info is available to us so far and a few educated guesses, including if UFA/RFA's will be re-signed or walk. Obviously, I think Gio is a possible and Madden is an unlikely based on what's out there so far.
I think Bergfors, Halischuk, Corrente and Pelley will be given good shots to make the teams and Eckford and Cormier are long shots for this season.

why does it have to be on a thursday? I'd totally be down for this.
Posted by: rob | June 02, 2009 at 08:12 PM
@rob,
Do you REALLY think that NJ politicians would give up a Saturday or a Sunday? The state Assembly and Senate only meet during the week.
Then again, many would argue that they don't do much work Monday to Friday, either.
Nice to see an "official" recognition of Marty's accomplishment though.
Posted by: JerryG | June 02, 2009 at 08:37 PM
I would love to attend unfortunately I am already taking Friday off for my early flight to Florida.
Posted by: JPL | June 02, 2009 at 09:15 PM
I would go but I fear that I would die of a choking-related incident.

Posted by: SaccAttack | June 02, 2009 at 09:38 PM
Awesome! I'm going!
Posted by: Liz | June 02, 2009 at 10:07 PM
Out of all days to do this?? I have to work and can not get off at all that day. Too bad, it would be something awsome for me to do. Congrats to Marty. Politicians to do this would be hysterrical. With the exception of Corzine, I dont think there are any hockey fans in Trenton. Can't wait to see one politician congradulate him for having the most goals this season, and another politician congratulate him on his homerun record.

I am IN!! Leavin Philly at 5:30 AM, taking the train to Newark and then straight to Trenton and then just go home..PERFECT!! Took off of work.
Yeah Josh, don't come. He is the SOLE reaosn there is STIL a hockey team called NJ Devils. We would not want a FRAUD there and THAT is just what you are: A FRAUD!

TG- You're post says an "autographed mini stick of Marty" but the web site does not say. Could you confirm your blog?
Thanks, you're the best!

The email that went out says this: "A Mini Goalie Stick autographed by Martin Brodeur"
Posted by: NWKDevilsFan | June 03, 2009 at 01:18 AM
It probably isn't a real autograph, it is probably one of those photo autographs

NJ politicians giving up a Saturday or a Sunday is like Pat dropping a short post...haha.
Just kidding, Pat.
Yah, I'm sure it's all the extra sticks from the MB30 promo with a MB30 Stamp on it..lol.

TG....since most of us will have a hard time going to this Thursday event...if you do go (you are going, right?) you have to get some leet photos to include.
Posted by: Zorin | June 03, 2009 at 09:17 AM
Any idea if Marty will actually be going? They mention Devils alumni too...any idea who?
Thanks
Posted by: Dan | June 03, 2009 at 10:29 AM
Dan, if i had to bet on which Devils alumni were to be there my bet would be on
Rob Skrlac 100%
Bruce Driver 100%
Ken Danyeko 75%
John MacLean 50%

The train has already reach capacity and they are taking names for a wait list.
Posted by: Kelly S | June 03, 2009 at 11:06 AM
Does anyone know if the ceremony will be open to anyone? I put my name on the Wait List, but if I don't get picked, I want to drive down with my family.
But not if I won't get to see the ceremony.

I see Skrlac, Driver, and Marshall in Brick City all the time. So yeah, I'd wager on them.

Well I feel that its a official that Lou has lost his mind...As he was one of the greatest Gm's his time has came and gone...really, he has only hurt the team, and will eventually lead to the full demise of our once greatest franchise... He as exhibited rushed and unintelligent moves and trades since our last cup...and with the tragedy of losing all of our loving defenseman and our super star center gomez , with all the money and expertise, lou and the front office has failed to rebuild a cup winning caliber team, after we still had all the basic fundamental players, marty, patty, madden, parise, jamie, white, martin, - # 1 sign of failure - RUSHING TO BUY A USELESS CENTER - Zubrus got 20 million for 6 years, AND JOHAN FRANZEN got 43million for 11 years,, THATS EXACTLY THE SAME MONEY, now can anyone, I MEAN ANYONE even compare JOHAN FRANZEN and DANIUS ZUBRUS? I DONT FF-NNN THINK SO.....Franzen is a hell of a clutch player, while ZUBS has never really put the numbers up to prove he deserved 20 million!!!!HES NEVER WON A CUP, AND HE HAS NO PLAYMAKING ABILITY - I MEAN COME ON WE ONLY GAVE PARISE 12 MILLION!! THE DEVILS FRONT OFFICE IS A MESS!!!!!
And look at the bang up job they did with our defense, after this entire season of coming through and bouncing back from MARTY'S injury, THE DEVILS DEFENSE GLUED TOGETHER TO STAY FIRM AT 4TH OR 5TH PLACE, PLAYING HARD ....BUT FOR SOME INSANE REASON, THE FRONT OFFICE DECIDED TO TRADE A YOUNG AND MOLDABLE
DEFENSEMAN IN SALMELA , WHO I THOUGHT WOULD HAVE IMPROVED GREATLY OVER THE OFF SEASON, FOR A HAS BEEN NEVER GREAT DEFENSMAN IN HAVILED
COME ON FRONT OFFICE WHAT THE F@#$K? HAVILED SUCKS!!! AND WHY GO TO ALANTA? THEY HAVENT EVEN SEEN THE POST SEASON, THAT DEFENSE WAS HORRIBLE!! WHY TRADE FOR A D-MAN FROM THAT TEAM?
the only thing that trade did was make our d suck, and send the messege to the team that lou and the front office think the defense is week, and not capable of going deep into the post season.....what a bad move, and right there with it was SUTTER
The last and worst move we can make was continue to roll with a head coach who doesnt know what he wants. AND THAT SHOWED IN GAME 7 AGAINST CAROLINE, IT WAS OUR HEAD COACH THAT LOST THAT GAME FOR US...
I never thought for real, that coach could loss a game for us, but after watching andy reid and the eagles blow it,
I was final to see OUR TEAM QUIT WITH 3 MINUTES TO GO IN GAME 7
THE SAME WISH/WASH SHI#$$TY ATTITUDE THAT SUTTER HAS, RUBBED OFF ON OUR TEAM, AND WAS THE REAL REASON FOR US LOSING..
THE TRUTH IS WE , ALONG WITH BOSTON, WERE GREAT MATCHUPS FOR THE WINGS....THE DEVILS WOULD HAVE WENT THROUGH THE PENGUINS LIKE KNIFE THROUGH BUTTER...
but we failed to keep our mind in that game 7
THANKS SUTTER, YOUR INABILITY TO STICK TO YOUR GUT< AND YOUR BACK AND FORTH BS ATTITUDE COST US A CUP< CAUSE THIS WAS THE YEAR< THERE WAS NO ONE TO CONTEND US...DETROIT IS THE ONLY TEAM IN THE WEST< AND WE WOULD OF HAD A GREAT CHANCE...
Posted by: JAKE | June 03, 2009 at 11:53 AM
oi ur a mess Jake. Fact is Lou made a mistake with Zubrus, GMs of every team make mistakes. Getting Havelid was a shot.. and it ended up being pointless... but it was a try. And no, we would NOT slice through Pittsburgh like butter. U crazy? It would've been 7 games... maybe them in 6. This offseason is make or break for Lou and Devils. I'm hoping for the best.
Posted by: modnarm | June 03, 2009 at 12:03 PM
I wonder if Eric Staal or any of the 'Canes will be on board....Marty already gave them one "complimentary trip".......to the second round. ;) Just kidding....sounds like a fun outing.
Posted by: tyler | June 03, 2009 at 12:25 PM
jake-love your passion but u are offbase with some key points. the pens would have won that series in 5 or 6. With their late season additions ie. kunitz and Guerin, they were the better team. The Devs didnt quit in the last 3 minutes, they were just on their heals and could not clear the puck bc carolina was just more determined to keep it in. You are correct that Sutter is at fault here but the reason is due to his "over-matching" of the lines ie. playing madden line over elias line in the 3rd period of game 7 and throughout the series. I agree he needs to go bc the team needs a reliable steady man behind the bench whose heart is 100% into it. It's obvious sutter is a goner....Lou has defintely failed since the lockout but so to has his players.....
