Brian Gionta, John Madden, Mike Rupp and Scott Clemmensen all left the Devils as unresricted free agents today, but general manager Lou Lamoriello said the team is on the verge of signing a free agent that is already team property.
"We will be signing, I'm sure, at least one player very soon that's one of our reserve-list players," Lamoriello said.
Reserve-list player?
"One of our players that we have the rights to," Lamoriello said.
Lamoriello would not say who the player is.
Could it be the mystery player from Europe Lamoriello spoke about?
Could it just be restricted free agent center Travis Zajac, who is believed to be on the verge of re-signing?
That's what I thought intiially, but now I'm not sure.
Here's what the NHL rule book says about the "reserve list":
Reserve Lists
The list of players "belonging" to an NHL team is comprised of the following, the total of which may not exceed 80:
- Pro players (maximum of 50)
- Signed junior players (who have played less than 11 professional games)
- Unsigned draft choices
- Defected players (unsigned draft choices who are playing in Europe)
Can it be Sergei Zubov? haha i wish

I WAS THE ONE WHO FIRST ASKED THE QUESTION!

Alexander Korolyuk? I'm not sure who else would have NHL potential for this coming season who we also own their rights.
Unless it's Josefson or Tedenby, but those are both big stretches.

TG, both hockeybuzz's Cap Central and NHLnumbers have Johnny Oduya's cap hit listed at $3M instead of the announced $3.5M. Which is accurate?

Hey TG, I know that it isn't going to be Radulov, but say he wanted to come back..Would he have to play for Nashville or could he sign with a different team?

This has to be the only organization to have the GM say "We're happy."
then in the next breath "We aren't done."
then say "Mystery Player" and "Reserve List".
Being a Devils fan is always an adventure <3
