Some of you were fortunate enough to make the train trip to Trenton last month to celebrate Martin Brodeur Day at the State House. The State Assembly and Senate both honored Brodeur that day for breaking Patrick Roy's NHL regular season wins record on March 17 vs. Chicago.
This morning, Brodeur was honored in his hometown of St. Leonard. The ceremony took place at Martin Brodeur Arena.
Congrats Marty!

I'm still a little mad at him for not taking any responsibility for the soft goals against carolina.

I wish I had an arena named after me.

Can we save the celebrations of Marty until he retires. All these "Marty Days" are starting to make him sound old and making me nervous!
Posted by: devilstown | July 08, 2009 at 03:28 PM
Koivu a Duck..one less player to speculate about.

Anyone think Lou will retire Claude's jersey? And no more "Marty Days" until he brings homr the cup one more time.
Posted by: Robbie | July 08, 2009 at 03:32 PM
Don't worry I'm sure Lou is in hot pursuit of some unknown player from Kazakhstan or someplace equally exciting.

I am sure you are right..." we can win with this team"...once I hear that I will feel comforted.
Posted by: MI | July 08, 2009 at 03:35 PM
Well, right now we have 8 forwards, 7 defensemen, 1 goalie, and NO head coach. So I wouldn't expect to hear "we can win with this team" anytime soon.
Posted by: devilstown | July 08, 2009 at 03:42 PM
Robbie: Everyday should be MARTY DAY since we would ahve no team if NOT for him.

Ha! Its like they're icing a men's league team - just enough guys so they don't have to forfeit. Maybe some of their old college buddies will join the team when they need a few extra bodies for some games... "I know this guy I work with who used to play in highschool. I'll see if he wants to play, but he may not be able to play a full season"
Posted by: G | July 08, 2009 at 04:04 PM
Claude's jersey retired? NEVER. What about Chris Terreri? CT b4 CL...always. Or Brylin. Enough with Claude...guy was a nomad....and I say, 'no' cause I'm 'mad' at him.
Posted by: Zorin | July 08, 2009 at 05:19 PM
we can win with this team just not the stanley cup or the atlantic division. don't worry our 3rd and 4th lines can score the twenty goals we lost with gionta. zubrus is fine at center just as long you don't expect him to show up every game maybe just every fourth or fifth game. one good thing that idiot sutter is gone.

I would hate to be working for the Devils ticket office this summer. Especially if I were paid on commission for every new and returning season ticket sold! What's that sales pitch going to sound like? "Well we weren't good enough to get out of the first round again last year but now we're older, have lost four core players, have no back-up goalie or coach yet and haven't added anybody to help the team. Would you like to renew your tickets this year?"
