Here is some video of a fight between defenseman Harry Young and right wing Nathan Perkovich during this morning's scrimmage at the Devils' prospects camp at Prudential Center. I was unable to zoom in after it started, so it's not as close a shot as I would like, but it's not terrible.
Although Perkovich ends up on top at the end, Young was the winner of the bout. The fight took place with 8:58 left in the first period. (If you don't see a play button, click on the photo and that should start the video).
The White Team defeated the Black Team 5-3 in the scrimmage.
Mike Swift gave the White Team the lead by scoring on a rebound 5:32 into the game. Defenseman Curtis Gedig tied it when his left point wrist shot went in off a defender in front at 7:25. White recaptured the lead only 18 seconds later, however, when defenseman Matt Delahey scored on a rebound.
The lineups were mostly the same as Tuesday's scrimmage, but there are some minor adjustments. Matt Corrente is sitting out today. He said he is a healthy scratch. Defenseman Tyler Miller also is not playing again today. He scrimmaged Tuesday, but sat out Monday's sessions because of an injury.
Tommy Albelin (forwards) and Scott Stevens (defensemen) coached the White Team. John MacLean (forwards) and Jacques Laperriere (defensemen) coached the Black Team.

Patrice Cormier scored only 18 seconds into the second period to tie the game at 2-2. Then Alexander Vasyunov beat Anthony Felice on a wraparound at 2:38 to give Black a 3-2 lead.
Ashton Bernard tied it again by beating Jeff Frazee short side with a backhand from the right circle that went in off the right post at 9:59.
Brandon Burlon gave the White team a 4-3 lead by beating Frazee between the legs (another soft goal) with a right point wrist shot with 7;33 left in the second.
Perkovich made it 5-3 by chipping a rebound past Frazee on the glove side with 9:42 left in the third period.
I wish I could watch this from my iPhone. TG - where's the fire and ice blog app?!?!

Who's Pascal Cormier?
Posted by: ziggyluc | July 15, 2009 at 10:38 AM
he ment Patrice cormier
Posted by: NJromano | July 15, 2009 at 10:39 AM
Pascal Cormier is the mutant offspring of Pascal Rheaume and Patrice/Kevin Cormier.
Seriously though, Patrice Cormier is a Devils prospect at center who was the 2nd round draft pick in 2008.

I know it's redundant but Thank You TG. You are the only outlet for hard core Devil fans. You do so much more for the fans than the orginzation. It is sad in a way...

TG any comment why Corrente is a healthy scratch? Why bring him here to sit him down. I would imagine it is an off ice issue?
