The Devils will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in 2010 by bringing back the green.
For their March 17, 2010 home game against the Pittsburgh Penguins – and for one night only -- the Devils will wear their original red, green and white uniforms, the team announced today.
“The original red, green, and white jerseys are a part of our history here in New Jersey,” Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello said in a statement. “We have always been an organization that takes great pride in its tradition. This is something we believe our fans will enjoy for that one special night.”

I think this could very well be the start of making St. Patrick's Day a tradition in Jersey the way New Year's Eve is a tradition in Dallas. Between last year's game and a pretty good draw for this year's (defending SC champs and now the throwback jerseys)...I love it.

Does this mean that the Devils are no longer a holdout to the concept of third jerseys, or is this a "special exemption", like the Red Wings used in last year's Winter Classic? I like it, though. (I also wonder if Brodeur will also go with his retro "J" mask ... or some other specialty design).
