Devils left wing Zach Parise took batting practice at the Metrodome on Tuesday before the Twins took on the Baltimore Orioles. According to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Parise nearly hit one out.
This from the Pioneer Press:
"Zach Parise, the New Jersey Devils star left wing and former Shattuck-St. Mary's whiz, took batting practice off Twins manager Ron Gardenhire Tuesday at the Metrodome. Parise, a left-handed swinger, blasted one ball that fell just short of the folded seats in right field, 340 feet away."
"Parise, 25, will bet to play for former Wild coach Jacques Lemaire this season."
"Everyone I've talked to likes playing for him and learning from him," Parise told the Pioneer Press. "We've got (ex-Wild wing) Brian Rolston now and he said he really liked playing for (Lemaire) in Minnesota."
340 feet is a lot further than Luis Castillo can hit a baseball. Maybe Omar can sign him.

I think they look pretty cool. Just gotta see how they look when he's wearing the red and the black.

I wouldn't read anything into that roster. It doesn't mean anything. There are guys on it who will not be in the NHL this year.

Good job, just don't get hurt, dude. Guy is our A-punch as far as offense goes. Last thing we need is him going Dice-K and being on the shelf for the season.

Bergfors is listed with the prospects. I suspect many of the players listed on the roster right now will be with the prospects soon as well.

The Yankees game is on the YES Network today, as are most of their games. Sterling (Pa Pinstripes) and Suzyn Waldman (Ma Pinstripes) are awful. Singleton and Cone are doing the game on the YES Network this afternoon.
Bergfors likely will make the Devils' team this upcoming season.
Keys to the upcoming Devils' season are not overplaying Martin Brodeur, splitting up Paul Martin and Johnny Oduya and pairing both of them with stay at home defensemen, thus allowing both of them to go on offense more often, and getting more scoring. Of course, if they can find another center to be the second line center from somewhere, that would help--a lot.

@Noam, hey I disagree with what you said about the D-men. I think that part of the problem with that transition system was that one d-man was the obvious stay at home guy. If you shut the other one down you pretty much shut down the system.
What they need to do is to find more pairs like Martin-Oduya where both can rush up the ice.
