Happy Monday

It's after midnight and I have paint on my fingers. Green. Not very attractive.

Mother's Day at my brother's house was nice, but a little too crowded. So many in-laws!! Our families are close, so that wasn't the problem. It's just that sometimes it's a little overwhelming to have so many people around.

I got up to leave around 6. And you know how that works: One person says they're leaving and then, all of a sudden, EVERYONE stands up to go.

That struck me as kind of funny. (If everyone else is leaving, maybe I should stay...)

I drove my parents back to the house. We were all worn out, but I didn't feel like taking a nap, so I took out the paint and did the walls in the kitchen that I wanted in green.

It's a dark green, kind of like the peel of a lime. And, it looks pretty good. I'm going to be using an off-white for most of the kitchen, but the green makes the space look a little more interesting.

Not sure what I am going to do on Monday, I hear it's going to be raining cats and dogs. I have to write on Tuesday, so I'd like to maybe run to a couple of furniture stores. Otherwise, I may paint my bedroom.

I'm still not used to not having food in the house. I just ate about 10 Pepperidge Farm cookies, with a bottle of spring water. That's about it for groceries. I still don't have any cooking utensils here. I'm not even sure I have dishes here yet.

Obviously this all takes time when you're just zipping back and forth on weekends.

I also want to get my exercise machine here. Not sure when (or how) I can do that without renting a truck. But if I'm going to eat my mother's cooking upstairs and cookies-between-meals downstairs, I am going to need some exercise. Well, you know, other than painting...

Please tell me what you did this weekend.

I want to hear some stories that don't involve paint.

green thumb bill?
(sorry i had to : )

i spent the day visiting ma in the hospital : (. our turn to do the ervolino hospital tag this year (since march-3 hospitals) hopefully she'll be home soon and stay home. exhausting, hence my early am post (i just woke up on the couch on my way to bed).

hi lwt et. al. : )
good night : )

Bill-what kind of pepperidge farm cookies?

my fave are the geneva ones...dark choc. and pecans on one side...YUM. hmm haven't had one of those in a long time!

i got gremlins again. i posted a comment here that vanished [again]. it included a note to nancy [hug mom for me], a comment on green [i like it] and an offer to transport the exercise machine, if it fits in my van.

Good morning, lwt and Terri.

Had my mother-in-law and two brothers-in-law over for brunch. We had a lot of fun. My one techie brother-in-law installed our new tv for us. It looks great. He had a business flight to India leaving at about 5:30 from Newark, no problem from our house. At about 2:15, he realized that he had left his passport at home. He lives in the Princeton area, big problem. Somehow he made it home, got his passport and got to the airport in time. I don't want to know how fast he was driving.

We then went out to dinner and then saw Iron Man. It was a really enjoyable movie, quite a lot of fun. Robert Downey, Jr. was great. See it if you have a chance, it's an action-superhero movie with a brain.

Good morning. Just when I thought I'd have a chance to plant my Mother's Day present - a scotch broom plant - it's raining (and my roof is leaking) again.

Spent all day Saturday outside planting stuff, including my other Japanese maple and the azalea I brought out of clearance at Shoprite (I'm a sucker for the clearance basket). Turned out it was smaller than it looked, and I dug a hole to China and had to fill it back up, but the bush and the tree look good now. Was quite surprised to see tomato seedlings and the area under my magnolia covered with seedlings from the $1 box of "Shade Mix" flowers from Walgreens, too. Maybe I'll just rip out the rest of the dying lawn and spend another buck on more seeds!

Admit it Bill, the real reason you moved back home was your Momma's cooking! And by the sound of some of the things she makes I can't say I blame you.

I can't say as I could live in a house with brown walls....on tv it looks nice...but I think I would be driven mad.
My sister did a blackboard kind of green in her kitchen....I could live with that......But I find I lean more towards pastel colors. In a perfect world my bedroom would look like a cottage on the beach......instead of an all purpose room.

i took care of my son who was sick and daughter who wasn't, watched my husband garden and stain a door (# 2 of 17) did 3 loads of laundry, put away scarves and gloves finally, changed sheets and then felt like a stranger showing up at my sister's for mother's day late and being almost ignored. happy mother's day to me. maybe next year will be better

hmmmmm...went shopping for carpeting to replace what the carpet cleaning ruined (only 4 years old)...got lost going to the store in Clifton and when I found it, it had new days - only M,W,F....well they lost my business...Did a tour of Willowbrook....had a friend over, went up to the Botanical Gardens at Skylands and took photos...then finally off to see mom and take her out for dinner with my sister and brother in law...A nice and always too short weekend...
Re paint, I have a red wall in my living room, and a green - sort of zen green bedroom and a goldish yellow one.....the rest is a very warm glowy off white...none of which I painted....I don't do paint...
