First of all, I'm going to be on vacation for two weeks, although that rarely stops me from posting here. Secondly the format of this (and all of the Record blogs) will be changing in a week or so. This also means a change in how I post, and I haven't had much luck using the new system. So, should I suddenly disappear from the blogosphere, it will probably only be temporary. And I'll be easy enough to find on Facebook.
Oh well - I hope they do better with this than they did with the site redesign. Have a great vacation - hope you are feeling better, too.

the record should realize if it ain't broke, don't fix it. have a lovely vacation, kick back and relax and recover from all the after-effects. are you going anywhere special?

I'm not a big fan of the new redesign. but we'll see.

Dear Bill;
I know we've been together going on what--11 years now. I know that you are a public figure, but this warm up to a public dumping does not sit well with me. Since I refuse to allow you to drift off into obscurity, if the paper can't get its stuff together might I suggest blogging elsewhere to not make us your mere audience members feel abandoned (after holiday of course). This is especially for those of us who don't get the Ledger in far far away land. Just a thought - I will see you in fb land if neccessary.
Your humble muse...

FROM BILL: Hi, first of all, I am not very good at this stuff so what seems obvious to other users is confounding to me. I am never sure what is going on, but I am going to give it the old college try. Once the kinks are worked out I think everything will be fine. Until then, please bear with me. And just for the RECORD I don't work for the Ledger. At least, I wasn't yesterday. Its hard to keep up with this business, though.

Newsday is going to charge for it's content. If you don't live on Long Island why buy it? I will not subscribe to anything online for a fee.

I hope you figure things out quickly. Not all your blogger friends Facebook. :) Enjoy your vacation!

bill-ledger/record it seems to be irrelevant these days. i read record writers in the ledger and ledger writers in the herald. i sometimes even read you in the herald. i just wish they would take the final step and put your column in the herald. i hate reading the newspaper online.

Enjoy your time off, whatever you'll be doing. Hope you feel well enough to do something fun. I'm on Facebook, so I'll send you a friend request.

Enjoy your vacation, Bill. I wish I was going on vacation again instead of heading into retail holiday hell. But, I shouldn't complain. I've been doing this so long, it's really not a big deal anymore. Enjoy your time off, and I'm confident the blog will continue on just as always.

Whatever the redesign is, there's nothing we can do about it. By the way, good luck to your vacation!
