Dreary again??? The World Series begins tonight in the Bronx. Rainout? Unlikely, although there may be some delays. Tuesday is Election Day and it's clearly being overshadowed by the Yankees. I haven't read too many predictions about the gubernatorial race in NJ, but I suppose its possible that incumbent Jon Corzine could lose. For starters, the economy stinks -- never good for incumbents. And, much as I respect Corzine, I don't think he's endeared himself to New Jerseyans. Is that a problem? In a year like this one, yes. Because even those who voted for him last time around may not be inspired to vote at all this year. Do you think Corzine will be reelected? Do you think turnout will be high, low or "the usual?" Just curious. ; )
one way to not get re-elected is to raise taxes during a very difficult economic period. NJ was one of I believe 7 or 8 states to do this. Why can other states make do without? Is is part of the never-ending cycle of NJ corruption? Too-generous salary and pensions? Probably a lot of factors.

For one thing I'm sick of the trash that fills my mailbox everyday, so I'll be glad voting is over for that. Although if I wasn't so depressed I might consider recycling the paper into new paper, the home made kind.
I think Corzine has a shot. Why? I'll probably never hear the end of it, but that Christie guy doesn't look healthy.....and ya'all know what I mean.
To be honest I don't think I really care who gets in. I can't get my own family to listen to me so I doubt a politician cares what my views are. They are gonna do what they are gonna do anyway. Think McNinny...oh I mean McDonald...oops I mean..what was that guy's name? Liar, liar, pants on fire. If a politician can lie to his wife do you really think he'll tell US the truth.
Meanwhile, water is dripping from my front windows....on the inside. I guess I may as well get a bucket, because a landlord who doesn't tell you HE'S moving isn't going to fix any leaks. May the bird of paradise fly up his nose!

i'd love it if daggett won, but i doubt that it's likely. so instead of voting for the candidate i like, i will vote against the candidate that scares me. that would be christie. who has the best chance of beating him? corzine. i don't trust christie and all his going on and on about tax breaks won't help me. i am not rich and i am not a business. he keeps saying he will restore the property tax rebates. we got one this year. what is he talking about? the new taxes that dagget is proposing will not have that much impact on me. i don't have an income at this point and if i don't drive anywhere or buy anything, gas and sales taxes won't hurt me. i just wish i could access the star ledger archives to double-check the claims corzine made against christie. i tend to believe him, though because i am sure the ledger would refute it.

It looks like I'm going to hold my nose when I go in to vote. None of them are going to help us "little people" very much. Hey, the sun came out for a little bit this afternoon! Yay!

Having spent the better part of Sunday campaigning with Chris Daggett, I know who I am voting for. It's a shame that his status as an "I" is going to mean people will pass him up because he is one of the most intelligent human beings I have ever met, and he actually has both a sense of humor and a sense of honesty, two rare things in a politician. He also has an honest, open plan for improving the cash flow in this property-tax overburdened state, and he is neither lying about it, nor is he pretending there is not going to be some unhappiness in the short run with some of the shifting of the burden. Personally, I'd rather vote for someone who is honest up front than end up with someone playing games about "surprises" and being shocked about the state of things once in office.

Raise the gas tax, I say. Gas prices are not going down too far ever again, so a dime a gallon will hardly be noticed. But leave the others alone.
And, while Corzine may not have endeared himself to the voters, Christie is not winning over any people either. Should be an interesting day Tuesday.

Daggett would be great, but at this point I don't think it's going to happen. At least I have someone productive to vote for, the last time I gave a throw away vote to some crazy guy that only wanted to legalize pot, he was the one I picked when I closed my eyes and pointed.
