Here are a few food and dining notes from Route 23, in the little corridor from Pequannock to Wayne. (And while I'm at it, here's a plug to a fairly new blog, Route 23 Nation, by Kevin Granville, a former Record editor -- now at The New York Times -- who does the Route 23 commute from Sussex County every day.)
Anyway, try to follow along. The first is a little confusing:
- Triangle Hofbrau in Pequannock was bought by Michael Romanelli, who owns Tiffany's in the Pine Brook section of Montville and a handful of other Tiffany's restaurants in New Jersey. ... After the closing, a sign told customers it would be a Moe's Fresh Grill, or something like that ... Then a sign for Tiffany's went up ... And now, apparently, it's going to be a Tiff's. Same restaurant as the others in the group, but with Tiff's for the name -- and all of the other restaurants will share that name. Oh, and it won't be open for at least another four or six weeks, says Pine Brook manager Joe Bradley. Blame the contractors. (23 Route 23 south, Pequannock)
- Gary's Wine Marketplace expects to open Tuesday, April 15. The shop will include a 3,000-bottle selection, flowers, kitchenware and specialty foods. (1308 Route 23 north, Waybe)
- You know what we don't have enough of? Olive Gardens. So here comes another, on the corner of Route 23 south and Route 46 east, in the Wayne Towne Center, across from Maria's Homemade Ravioli. It's basically a stick building right now; the opening will be another season away.
- Taipei Noodle House in the West Belt Plaza in Wayne has been replaced with Cheng Du 23, another Asian restaurant. The same idea as Chengdu 1 in Cedar Grove and Chengdu 46 in Clifton, the folks there say, but different owners. (6 Willowbrook Road, Wayne; 973-812-2800)
