Burger place opens Wednesday

Burger Deluxe, the diner from the owners of Livanos Restaurant Group, will open Wednesday in Wayne, owner Nick Livanos said in an e-mail. Doug Vincent, formerly of the Porter House in Montvale, is the executive chef.

The Livanos Restaurant Group also owns Molyvos and Oceana in Manhattan, as well as the City Limits Diner in White Plains, N.Y., which was the inspiration for Burger Deluxe.

Burger Deluxe is at 1420 Route 23 north, Wayne, in the old Spindletop Diner location; 973-305-0033; molyvos.com.

Where is it?

Just before the traffic light at Packanack Lake Road on Rte. 23 North

I ate lunch there today. It was busy, and they offered every table a 20% discount as a grand opening special. Nice specialty drinks and decent burgers. Nice retro atmosphere. Will return.

I have been waiting months for this place to open...boy was I dissappointed! Considering it is a "Burger" place, the choices are quite limited. The only cheese mentioned for the burgers is cheddar. The fries were like rubber and the service was painfully slow. Since this is on "Diner Row" on Route 23, there are many better choices...

We were excited to find out a new burger joint is coming to our town only to be totally disappointed. If you would like to be served by inexperience high school kids that don't clear your table and ask if everything is OK, than this is your place. We asked for a table they sat us at a booth. We ordered buffalo wings they should have been called buffalo bones an the onion rings, what little their were so thin and barely covered in batter, thing and soggy with grease. In place named burger deluxe you would expect the burgers to be fresh not frozen like most of the items on the menu. When a manger finally asked us if everything was OK, we told him the food is far from what we expected. He ignored our comments and did not offer any resolution or compensation. He just walked away, which is exactly what we recommend you should do if your thinking about eating here.

burger deluxe??? more like burger does suck. this place has no right labeling themselves a burger joint. first off the staff is clueless, we waited close to 20 min. to be seated at one of the MANY EMPTY tables. I wont mention what appetizers we had because its not worth getting into instead, since the name of the place is "burger deluxe" i'll tell you about the greasy, tasteless over cooked thing, served on a stale bun (yes the bun was stale)that they tried to pass off as a burger. you would think since this is a new place they would at least try to serve a quality product since the 1st few weeks is what makes or breaks a place...guess again. apparently whoever is in the kitchen is as clueless as the front of the house staff. there are many other diners in the area to get a better burger.

Give this place a little time to get everything settled in. Try going back in a month, and if it still is not good, THEN write something negative. Of course it was busy, it JUST opened. And the wait staff may be inexperienced, but are you amazing at something you've never done before? Probably not. I think everyone should give this place a chance.

I agree with JD - the place literally just opened, give them a chance to get into the groove! Although, by the venom dripping from the negative posts I doubt those people are capable of having an openminded viewpoint.

...I used to work with NJeats.... at Burger Deluxe.... til he got fired for cursing in front of a customer the first Thursday we were open. Guess you're still bitter Dan?

...and next time don't post from the same accounts within 20 minutes of each other from the same fake email... loser

this place withouth a question ...the worst burger joint that i have ever been too. the food was horrible and the service even worse.

Both my husband and I love this place. Burgers are excellent ("other" Rt 23 diners do not compare). Menu was distinctly different than average diner fare. I had one of the specials and my husband chose from the menu. Food was delicious, well cooked, and the service WAS EXCELLENT. Food came quickly even though place was full. Waiter refilled drinks without us having to ask and was very attentive. Have also tried food as take-out. Quality was just as good, which you cannot say for many area restaurants. I loved the decor too!

All around great experience, we will be back!
