On WOR radio with Joe Bartlett and George Meade

My column last Thursday on lewd fans at Giants Stadium is generating quite a bit of discussion.  On Saturday morning, WOR talk-radio hosts Joe Bartlett and George Meade invited me on their show to discuss the issue and take phone calls from listeners.  Here is an MP3 recording:  Download WORJoeBartletGeorgeMeade120107.mp3

What happened to George Meade today - just Joe - new format? When will the loyal listeners be advised or did I miss an announcement. George and his great sense of humor made Saturday morning for me and countless others. Please update me. Thanks.

WOR does it again!! Where is George? Show was deadly on Jan. 5...new name, new format, no announcement? Many listeners are crying "foul"

Yes the show was just awful on Saturday! Repeats of long clips, no George, ugh. I sent Joe an email complaining, but haven't heard back yet. I'm sure what happened is the new general manager at WOR thought he could save $$$ by firing George, reusing those great clips, and having a more consistent format Mon thru Sat. And of course act like George never existed. Adding insult to injury was that paid business program at 9am. Way to go WOR, you ruined Sat mornings.

We want George! Actually George & Ellis Hennigan made a good team. I would think Joe is a bit tired out by Friday.

I tuned in on Sat. Jan.5th after 2 weeks vacation and was very disappointed that I did not hear the voice of George Meade. What happened?? He made Saturday mornings so upbeat. Please respond. Thank you.

The show is just awful without George Meade. Repeating interviews from the past week is just awful. "Been there, done that".
Big mistake for WOR. I am very disappointed.

I am so disappointed to not hear George Meade this morning. Did I miss an announcement of a final retiring or was he banished in the WOR format of past hosts. The program was flat! I listen to Joe and Donna during the week and Joe by himself was - no offense - boring. Bring George back!! Make it interesting....

I am very disappinted with the Saturday morning broadcast. There was just a terse announcement that George Meade was retired and then a very boring Saturday morning with just Joe. I agree that George and Ellis made a great team. I will no longer be listening to WOR on Saturday morning.

I am very upset with WOR for taking George Meade away from WOR Saturday morning. WE should alll write to Buckley Broadcasting. They own WOR. We should send letters we want George back. Enough letters and we will get George back

OK WOR come clean. WHERE IS GEORGE! If he has been "removed" at least be forthcoming and make an announcement to his loyal listeners. Or shall we all just pretend that he didn't exist. Actually, listeners are moving from the dial 710 up to 770. Joe is OK, but Donna is getting more painful to listen to.......she tries too hard and then she becomes very confrontational with Joe and her voice is hard to take so early in the morning. Time for her to disappear.

Yes, I too cannot get a response to my question
re George Meade. The Saturday morning program
no longer interests me. Also, I too cannot take
the voice of Donna Hanover in the morning.

So except for Joan Hamburg's show, I have lost
interest in WOR 710.

I too miss George mead on saturdays. They put Dr joy brown at night.replaced hennigan & white with boring people who laugh & snicker. Now, I have been turning to other stations. The most talented they fire. And speaking of vapid, how about Liz hamburg. Joan is trying to pass her crown to a trimbling voice daughter. I am very disappointed. Caroline

I too have wondered what happend to George. I cannot believe that no mention was ever made. I just assumed that I missed hearing it. The Saturday show is not LIVE. On John Gamblings last day at the station he let the cat out of the bag on his Sat morning show as being pretaped. I am sure they have reverted back to that.

I have, after many years moved up the dial to 820 NPR. WOR has gone too far to the right for me.

WOR arbitrarily removes talk show hosts from their programming without giving the listening audience any information. We deserve some respect for our loyalty which is beginning to fade. The management is so far to the right that we, the more liberal listeners, are falling off the page.... Farewell!

Add me to the list who misses George on Saturday mornings ad is disappointed with WOR. i don't like the new format at all and miss the chat between Joe & George. I cannot even listen during the week - Donna is such a bore.

I too no longer listen to the WOR Sat. Morning show since George 'disappeared'. What a big mistake. But a BIGGER mistake of having Karen Stewart on Joe & Donna's show! Talk about annoying voices! She's lowered the standards of WOR and all she does is SCREAM at everyone. She is making the WOR morning show more like a Jerry Springer type show. Her grammar is as a horrible as her voice. Bring back Shelly Strickler,,,,,,,,,that was CLASS.

Something is Missing in the AM drive slot. I stayed through the Gambling years that were great, enjoyed Ed Walsh, and tried to hang on with Joe, but staffing around him is not the same. The interaction with George was excellent and now Saturday's are gone. Never thought I would be an Imus fan, but his toned down AM atyle has made me a convert. I enjoy Michael, Bill and the PM line up that I often hear while driving.

What do you mean that karen stewart voice is the best . so rich and dark and sexy sounding .
that is the best thing you can hear in the morning
and she has very interesting talk as well .

berries. that about for the I was done it. and saw we just

99.9% sure rumor is that John Gambling will return to mornings on WOR in May. The bright and cheery AM newscaster, Karen Stewart from Montclair was fired, replaced by monotone Stephanie Shelton.

I am a long time listener... I hate the morning show ever since Gambling and Ed Walsh left. Gambling was fun and entertaining. Ed Walsh brought some dignity to the show. Now I turn off the morning show almost daily.
Donna Hanover can not be tolerated. I hate her voice, her comments, her laugh and more. I liked Karen Stewart. At least she always had something interesting to report.
Saturday morning show I stopped even tuning in to. I don't like the Joan Hamburg show when she has her daughter on....she is on, I turn off. Great show is with the new chef and other programs on 710.
