Bush appoints Some to heritage board
Steve Some, a New Jersey lobbyist and Republican fund-raiser, was appointed today by President Bush to the Commission for the Preservation of America's Heritage Abroad, which is working with eastern European governments to preserve monuments to victims of the Holocaust.
Some said he has been working with Lithuania and raised $50,000 privately to build a new memorial at the Uzupis Jewish cemetery in Vilnius.
"It's very important to do these things because since the fall of Communism, we have been very concerned that these governments do the correct thing and teach the Holocaust honestly in their schools, and to build these memorials so future generations remember the millions of Jewish victims murdered in the Holocaust by the Nazis and, in many cases, by their Eastern European collaborators," Some said.
Some lives in Montgomery and is a principal at Capital Public Affairs in Princeton.
