North Jersey earmarks

A massive spending bill that the House passed Monday night and the Senate last night includes about three dozen earmarks for North Jersey ranging from $94,000 for a child abuse prevention program in Teaneck to $14.7 million for studies for a new rail tunnel under the Hudson River.

I've compiled all the local projects, along with how the spending changed during the debate over the budget, in this chart. A full story about the budget bill is in today's paper.

My list covers only the area served by The Record, and New Jersey's delegation had many more earmarks. You can see tables of all the earmarks in this year's spending bills on the Taxpayers for Common Sense website but the amounts, as of today, are not the ones in the final bill.
