Fall flavors
One reason why I love fall: hum-drum chain restaurants bust out their autumn-inspired offerings, like pumpkin chai tea, harvest grain bagels and cinnamon lattes. This year, Dunkin' Donuts introduced an apple cider donut with cinnamon icing and sprinkles and Panera Bread debuted an apple caramel braided strudel (I'm noticing a pattern...)
Even better, local coffee shops and restaurants have fall goods, too. The Fine Grind in Little Falls (480 Main St.) just began serving a pumpkin spice latte. The Belamari Tea Room in Hawthorne (198 Diamond Bridge Ave.) added an apple spice pound cake with golden raisins to its afternoon tea menu for September, as well as a new salad, with golden delicious apples, walnuts and apple cider vinaigrette. Minardi's Bakery in Paterson (125 Grand St.) will begin selling its pumpkin pie after Halloween. The list goes on...
Does anyone have a favorite fall drink or snack from a local eatery? Let me know, I'm dying to try more...(stevens@northjersey.com)
I haven't yet tried any of the fall offerings, but I feel the need to share that I absolutely love, Love, LOVE The Fine Grind. The atmosphere is cozy, the various coffee drinks are excellent and unique, and the staff is about as friendly as you can get. It reminds you of all the great things about visiting locally-owned coffee shop as opposed to the corporate giant.

It wouldn't be Fall without Thanksgiving. But you can have Thanksgiving any time at the Fine Grind by ordering their incredible "Thanksgiving Pannini"
