Coffee wars: Little Falls' The Fine Grind vs. S'Bucks

Ist1_1745892_have_some_coffee A new billboard just went up on Rt. 23 in Wayne by Willowbrook Blvd. Nope, it's not a cheesy ad for a discount store. This one's worth a look for its not-so-subtle message: skip the Starbucks cafe across the street and head for the independently-owned coffee shop nearby, The Fine Grind.

"We may not be big...but we're not bitter!" the sign reads, with directions to the coffee shop in Little Falls.

Rhonda Mallek, the shop's owner, paid for the billboard to encourage members of the community to think locally and support neighborhood businesses.

What do you think? Do you prefer chains or do you prefer to eat in locally owned businesses? Let me know!

Cool. I'm a regular at TFG in Little Falls and agree with the statement completely. Great coffee shop - no burnt coffee served here.
I haven't seen the billboard, but I'll look for it.

The Fine Grind is a fantastic place and Rhonda, the owner, is adorable. They have more than great coffee. The desserts & pannini's etc are great too. Try the Thanksgiving pannini! It is, as they say, "To die for!"

The Fine Grind is better than any Starbucks, hands down, no contest, period. The staff is as nice as can be, the coffee drinks and munchie foods are fantastic and the feeling of supporting a local business is second-to-none in today's world of corporate-owned everything.
