The Paramus Spartans are off to a great start in all fall sports for the 2009-2010 school year. From volleyball to football, the fall season looks like it's going to be very exciting once again.
The Varsity football team kicked off their season with a victory over Randolph High School by the score of 38-6. This game was also the Spartans' home opener. The Spartans had a balanced attack both through the air and on the ground en route to the victory.Senior running back tallied a total of four touchdowns, coming via 21 carries for a total 240 yards rushing including a 39 yard rush for the opening touchdown.
Junior quarterback John Robertson completed 10 of 18 passes for 120 yards and a touchdown. In addition, Robertson showed off his running abilities with 60 yards of his own on the ground on 6 attempts. Despite a 65 yard drive for a touchdown to open the second quarter, the Spartans proved to be too much for the Randolph Rams to handle in this one. Next up for the Spartans is DePaul Catholic High School again at home.
The volleyball team also got off to a great start, with wins over Hackensack by the scores of 25-20 and 25-15. After those victories and a loss against Fair Lawn, the Spartans were 2-1 to start their season. Next up for the girls is a match-up against Wayne Valley.
