The Paramus High School Spartans pushed their winning streak to two games on Friday with a 29-15 victory over the DePaul Catholic Spartans. With the victory, Paramus improved to 2-0 on the season.
Trailing 3-0 at halftime, Paramus came out of the locker room on a mission, as they scored on the second play of the 3rd quarter, as junior quarterback John Robertson hooked up with senior wide reciever Kevin Grady for 78 yards and a touchdown, giving Paramus a 7-3 advantage. This score was the spark that the Spartans in blue needed, as they never looked back from that point on. Just moments after taking their first lead of the game, the boys from Paramus increased their lead, as Robertson took matters into his own hands, or should I say legs, with a 32-yard 3rd quarter touchdown run.
As the clock hit zero in the fourth quarter, the Spartans had passed what many were calling a huge test for Paramus that could very well determine how the rest of the season plays out. Nothing, not playing in a new league, or even playing a highly ranked opponent would stop the Spartans on this night. Next up for the 7th ranked Spartans is an away game at Wayne Valley Friday night, October 2, 2009.
