The Paramus High School Spartans kept their winning streak alive on Friday night, extending it to an impressive 5 games with a 21-6 victory over the Pascack Valley High School Indians last night in the first round of the NJSIAA/Gatorade North Jersey, Section 1, Group 3 tournament.
The win proved to be more than just an extension of the winning for the Spartans, as it helped move them into the semifinals Friday, November 20th at 7:00 PM, in a match up against Ramapo High School
Junior quarterback John Robertson got the offense going after a scoreless first quarter, passing for two touchdowns and running for a score. This helped spark the offense, giving the Spartans a 13-0 halftime thanks to two scores through the air by Robertson to his senior offensive stars, wide receiver Kevin Grady for a 14 yard score, and a 37yard reception by senior Anthony Mordaga.
Despite a forth quarter score by the Pascack Valley Indians, Robertson and the offense of the Spartans, along with the strong defense, proved to be too much for Pascack Valley to handle when it was all said and done.
With a win in the semifinals, the Spartans will be in the finals to be played at Giants Stadium. This would be in addition to their annual Thanksgiving Day regular season match-up against their rival Ridgewood.
