So now the Knicks own the No. 6 pick and barring an unlikely trade up, won't get Derrick Rose or Michael Beasley.
But the likes of guards O.J. Mayo, Eric Gordon and Jerryd Bayless should be around, combo guards all _ although Donnie Walsh said of such labels a lot of point guards are scoring guards in college, so they're termed combo guards who end up playing the point in the NBA. Chauncey Billups, for instance, is such a player, he said.
Stanford shot-blocker Brook Lopez could be around at No. 6, too, as could the most intriguing player: Italian League small forward Danilo Gallinari, of whom Mike D'Antoni might know more than anyone, having roomed with Gallinari's father Victorio for two years and played with him for eight during his two-decade Italian League playing and coaching career.
Or, Walsh acknowledged he might trade the pick and move down in the draft. that could be a means to unload Zach Randolph's contract and clear out more potential LeBron James contract room in 2010.
So, what do you think the Knicks should do, spend the pick or trade it? And if they spend the pick, on whom should they use it?
if they can get rid of randolph AND jeffries, trade it. That would be 22/28mil we owe in 2010. If you can dump 2/3 of our cap and only get 09-10 contracts in return, its worth it. Otherwise lets see what bayless can do.

If they can package the pick with ZBO and get a pick or two in return, do so. If they can't get rid of ZBO, and can get Bayless, fine. Jeffries isn't a big enough cap hit to worry about especially since he might look okay in D'Antoni's system. Curry is another potential trade though I think, despite the heart problems, he'll be an easier trade next summer. BTW, I still think the best time to trade ZBO will be to a contender mid year when the contender just knows that with more low post scoring they can go all the way.

Work that rumor that's going around Zach for Dalembart. Sweaten the pot for Philly by Flip Flopping picks to get it done. Then get DJ Augustin, Rush or Roberts.
