A league source said today that Arizona offensive line coach Russ Grimm will be interviewed by the Jets on Thursday in Arizona, while the Cardinals prepare to face Carolina. The Jets also are expected to interview Boston College coach Jeff Jagodzinski tomorrow.
BTW, there was an interesting report on WFAN today.
It was said by Mike Francesa that Grimm, Baltimore defensive coordinator Rex Ryan and Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo are in the "first tier" of candidates for the job, with offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, assistant head coach/offensive line coach Bill Callahan, Indianapolis defensive coordinator Ron Meeks, former Baltimore head coach Brian Billick and Jagodzinski in the "second tier" of candidates.
This is significant because Francesa is tight with GM Mike Tannenbaum, so I definitely put credence into what Francesa says.
The Boston Globe, btw, is reporting that BC AD Gene DeFilippo may fire Jagodzinski if he interviews, and even if he doesn't, because Jagodzinski lied to him, and said he had not had contact with the Jets. I find it rather amusing that DeFilippo is suddenly a stickler for the truth, considering he's the same guy who led the Big East to believe BC was staying while he was negotiating to jump to the ACC a few years ago.
He's shocked, shocked that there's gambling going on. Excellent point- BC deserves what it gets.
