CBs Lito Sheppard [quad] and Donald Strickland [high ankle sprain] have been ruled out for the second straight game. However, Rex Ryan said that while the Jets 'definitely thought' about signing another CB to the roster, 'we like our plan going forward with our guys. We do have four safeties, so we can move guys around if we need to.'
Once again, CB Dwight Lowery will fill in for starter Sheppard and DB Drew Coleman will sub for nickel back Strickland. Ryan said everyone else on the injury report is probable, including S Jim Leonhard [knee] and special-teamer Larry Izzo [hamstring].
The Jets practiced inside today, likely trying to get acclimated to the conditions in the Superdome. Not much in the way of comedy from Rex today, just because there weren't that many questions and not many media members on hand.
Wednesday always is the biggest day in terms of media, because the QB meets the media. The dumbest question of the week came when Mark Sanchez was asked what name he would give to Sunday's game, considering last weekend's game could've been called 'Clash of the Titans.' To his credit, an obviously surprised Sanchez didn't give it much of an answer, saying he didn't know what to call it, only that it's a big game.
Sanchez is one of several players on the Jets chosen to wear pink cleats this weekend in honor of breast cancer awareness [kind of like the pink bats used in MLB on Mother's Day]. NT Kris Jenkins saw the shoes, and while he acknowledged that he certainly supports the cause, he wished they were not such a brights shade of pink. Jenkins was not chosen to wear them. The manufacturer, Nike, made the choice of which NFL players would get the pink cleats.
