...If for no other reason than the family's surname is perhaps the most descriptive surname in NHL history.
The Rangers' brass is currently fine-tuning its draft board for next month's picks but if GM Glen Sather and co. want to please their constituents in 2010, they'll consider defenseman Brock Beukeboom, son of Jeff.
Obviously, this is said mostly tongue in cheek since the 2010 draft is a long, long way away and it's too early to tell where Brock Beukeboom might project in the draft. But, seriously, how great would it be to see "Beukeboom" once again stitched across the back of a Blueshirt?
The reports I could find on Beukeboom the Younger all indicate he's much more of an offensive-minded defenseman than his old man. But he's 6-foot-2, 200 pounds and growing and the bloodlines suggest he'll be a big boy.
So what's wrong with the franchise doing something in the future to connect to the past? Bring back (a) Beukeboom if the chance is there next year.
A chip off the old Beuke!

Only if he's actually good enough to be drafted in the position that the Rangers decide to draft him. We already know from past experience (i.e. Marcel Hossa) that blood lines don't mean much ;)

Never mind Marcel Hossa, how about Fedor Federov?

I knew that the Rangers had done it twice in recent years but forgot momentarily who the other NHL brother was. Thanks for reminding me of that other experiment gone tragically wrong

It's not like we drafted either Hossa or Fedorov. We traded spare parts for them that didn't amount to anything anyways. Someone else wasted a high draft pick on them.

Ah, but there's a difference! Brock is Beuk's SON, not his brother. Think Brett Hull, son of Bobby. Think Marty and Mark Howe, sons of Gordie. Think Lyon Messier, son of Mark...uh...er...well,nevermind. Maybe that doesn't always work out either. :)

Hey Andrew,
I got word from a very reliable person that the Rangers and Colorado have discussed "off the record" in trading the 3rd pick and Hejduk to the Rangers. I am also the guy who told you about Drury's broken hand before it was public, so I hope you believe me. No idea what the Rangers would send back.

How old is Sergei Zubov's son?

seems like rangers want money from season tix holders by 6/22 before the draft and the onset of free agency. also that they slightly increased prices - hard to see them doing that in this economy. sather letter to subscribers is below without prices.
