On a day the Lightning removed the interim tag from before coach Rick Tocchet's title, Tampa Bay general manager Brian Lawton also announced that associate coach Mike Sullivan has permission to speak with other teams.
The Rangers tried to bring Sullivan on board on Feb. 23 as a package deal with John Tortorella but could not work out a deal with the Lightning and Sullivan was subsequently added to Tocchet's staff. But while Tortorella and the Rangers weren't allowed to utter Sullivan's name officially due to tampering rules, it's no secret he's the guy Tortorella wants to bring in.
Unless Sullivan is able to land a head coaching gig, expect him to join the Rangers in the near future.
Andrew....does this open the possibility of Glen stepping aside and retiring, elevating Schoeny to GM, and Torts and Sullivan run the team? Or is Glen leaving just a crack dream of 99.8% of Rangers fans?

Don't see Glen stepping aside but Schoenfeld has been getting a larger and larger say in the running of the team. I'm sure Schoenfeld's goal is to be elevated to GM. Don't think this is the season, though.

Andrew - If you see Sather (aka the Ghost) tell him to sign Orr ASAP because I guarantee you that come July 1st there will be teams willing to pay more money for him than the Rangers will want to pay w/ their tight cap. i.e. Toronto!
There are going to be a lot of pissed off Ranger fans if Orr isn't brought back - he's one of the best in the league @ his job and soon when the older top 2 retire he'll be #1. Just venting because I'm reading all sorts of speculations over the internet including one site where Orr was at an autograph signing and basically said he doesn't think Torts wants him in NY - which is complete BS if true

PuckCentral.Net,
Hate to be the bearer of bad news. I understand why Colton is a fan favorite. But as I just wrote in my latest post on who the Rangers will/should keep, I don't think Orr is off base when he says he doesn't think Torts wants him back.
