thanks for the update andrew

i liked gomez but with our cap situation and all 5 yrs and $ 35 mm cap $ was crippling especially with redden also having 5 yrs left big $. some of gomez contract was front loaded so the last couple of yrs cash pymt being less might have been the inducement for mtl to make the deal

money for either our home grown types raises or like you said free agents or even trade now for heatley. would think cally more likely to go than dubi with gomez traded

Matty

I am beyond THRILLED that Gomez is gone .. that contract was cripling us(now give Redden the boot too) ... let's hope the cap space doesn't go to Sather's head now

Glen Sather finally made a good move! I am happy. We needed to get rid of Gomez, who was a turnover machine. Hopefully, Michael Roszival will be gone in a trade for Dany Heatley. If Dubinsky has to go, I don't mind. And if he can trade Wade Redden, I will consider him a decent general manager.

Good trade imo. Higgins is a nice second liner that can score 20-25 goals and be a solid pker. Getting rid of the dreadful Gomez contract is a huge plus. This opens up some cap room to trade for Heately or sign Hossa or Gaborik.

Wiat, we dump Gomez, take minimal salary back, add a good 3rd line in Higgins AND get the Habs best defensive prospect??!!

Sather's pimp hand is VERY strong today.

LI Joe

he won't do it but i would love to save the cap space for kovalchuk in a yr

i think heatley is coming. prefer not but think its happening

Bill

Deja vu?

Sergei Zubov is a free agent!
