So what did Sather get for Prucha and Dawes?

elsie

+Corey Potter...

TK

Prucha was a UFA at the end of the season. Did you really think he was going to sign here after the last year of shenanigans?

Dawes and (thank god) Kalinin for a rental? No problem with that - don't the Rangers have enough players that get 30 points a season?

NYRanger4Life

TK: TRUE THAT!

Mark

Like TK said in that trade we really didn't give up anyone. Kalinin went to the KHL, and would never have been resigned by Glenn, Dawes was already put on waivers by the Coyotes and claimed by the Flames, and Prucha would is another third line player. The worst thing about the deadline was giving up the 2nd round pick for Antropov.

LI Joe

agree with mark about both deadline deals

prucha was actually rfa and took a paycut from approx $ 1.6 mm to $ 1.1 mm to sign with phoenix. dawes with waivers was avail to all teams below calgary which claimed him. that included the rangers. the phoenix deal did not hurt at all.

Godwin

Losing prucha will hurt long run. He did well in the 3 games under Tortorella before he got traded. All those that think Prucha sucked..... it's kind of unfair considering he never got a legitimate chance to play under Renney in the past two seasons. When he did play, he got less than 12 minutes each game. Not to mention he usually ended up on a line with players that were in slumps at the moment. I'm not saying he's going turn into a Marc Savard but would've been wise to keep him instead of losing him for nothing, especially since he's only taking 1.1 mm.

Glen Sather messed up this team so much in the past 13 months.

So much for rebuilding....

Bill

Godwin is absolutely right about Petr Prucha. Renney had something against the kid. It began with Shanny's arrival, when Renney pulled Prucha off the power play, Remember that Petr had set a Ranger record for most power play goals by a rookie. Last season, Renney consistently made Prucha a "healthy scratch," despite giving ice time to players like Voros and Riismiller. He then played well with Phoenix. Good luck Petr. Sorry that Sather and Renney truly messed up your career.

LI Joe

rissmiller played what 2 games so he helped ruin pruchas career.

too much talk about a 3rd line role player. i, for one, am very glad he's gone. he meaning prucha

LI Joe

oh by the way, i'm also very glad renney is gone and would love to see sather AND DOLAN gone as well.

TK

Hey, I loved Petr (have a jersey, too), but the bottom line here is that after his complete and utter misuse by Renney, there is NO WAY he was going to sign here and go through the same crap again. Would you have? I'm glad he's going to get time with the 'Yotes - he just didn't "fit" here anymore.

Chris

The only time he fit was on a line Jagr, still in his prime, and when he got time on the PP to sit in the slot similar to Shanny. I am also happy Petr has moved on to grenner pastures, and actually think he'll probably be top 3-5 in scoring for the Yotes.

Hopefully, we can avoid Shanny coming back this season...

Keith

Good riddance Morris-couldn't stand the thought of bringing him back. The guy was a D+ as a PP guy back there and because he had a decent shot Rangers fans were actually calling for the team to bring him back-gimme a freakin break. LI JOE-totally agree with you above-nothing against Pruch but he had one really good year and could not consistently get it together regardless how little he played. Dawes was a solid Shootout guy-that's it on him. Also-I don't think Dolan gives a crap about the Rangers to be honest.

Matty

It's going to be funny having Aaron Ward, who seems to get sucker punched in the face a lot, back in Carolina ... specially after all his drama over being punched out by one of the Hurricanes, forget even who, back in the playoffs ... Ward held an unofficial press conference by his lockeroom when he found out the dude wouldn't even face a 1 game suspension and waxed poetic about how hurt he was about how he was treated ...

haha ...
