Brooks is reporting that the Rangers are offering 700k for 1 yr but Dubinsky's camp is seeking double that.

He's also reporting that Zherdev's agent contacted the Rangers willing to now accept their original 3.25 QA offer, I have to laugh at them. They obviously overestimated Zherdev's worth, and when other teams weren't willing their realized their mistake now it's too late

You would think that Dubi and Zherdev have the same agent the way their contracts situations have evolved. I looked up who else Overhardt's firm represents, and they aren't elite players, but a lot of young players with upside: Kesler, Turris, Zajac, Bieksa, etc. His only big names, relatively, are Knuble and Turco. I am willing to guess he doesn't have much experience mentoring these kids at this point in their career. If Sather is offering him $700k-$1M, I believe that's a reasonable one year contract, knowing you'll probably get a two-fold bonus in the following year.

Obviously, Zherdev's agent hasn't seen the depth chart for the Rangers. Simply no room on the wings.
