In the sense of fairness, just wanted to pass along that Brandon Dubinsky's agent, Kurt Overhardt, chose not to respond when I asked him about John Tortorella's assertion from earlier today that Dubinsky's decision to not be at training camp was "stupid" and that "I think his agent is stupid."
That is called taking the high road. Usually, only the most contentious contract disputes turn personal and these talks are not there yet. Overhardt typically does not like commenting to the media on negotiations - a practice he is essentially continuing in this case - but I got the sense that there's still a belief a deal will get done.

Brooks is reporting that the Rangers are offering 700k for 1 yr but Dubinsky's camp is seeking double that.
He's also reporting that Zherdev's agent contacted the Rangers willing to now accept their original 3.25 QA offer, I have to laugh at them. They obviously overestimated Zherdev's worth, and when other teams weren't willing their realized their mistake now it's too late

You would think that Dubi and Zherdev have the same agent the way their contracts situations have evolved. I looked up who else Overhardt's firm represents, and they aren't elite players, but a lot of young players with upside: Kesler, Turris, Zajac, Bieksa, etc. His only big names, relatively, are Knuble and Turco. I am willing to guess he doesn't have much experience mentoring these kids at this point in their career. If Sather is offering him $700k-$1M, I believe that's a reasonable one year contract, knowing you'll probably get a two-fold bonus in the following year.
Obviously, Zherdev's agent hasn't seen the depth chart for the Rangers. Simply no room on the wings.

Only then can you truly love others, your family will benefit and you have a great legacy and strength to pass onto your children.
