Right wing P.A. Parenteau, who was an AHL All-Star last season with 29 goals and 49 assists skating with center Artem Anisimov, re-signed with the Rangers after they offered a one-way deal worth slightly more than the NHL minimum.
And Parenteau believes he'll get a fair chance to make the Rangers this season under John Tortorella. Parenteau did have a good camp last season but said today he didn't believe former coach Tom Renney was willing to give him an opportunity.
"The way I'm feeling at this year's camp it's whoever earns it and that helps a guy like me," Parenteau said. "I signed before I could even talk to any other teams. It was good money-wise and it's good for my confidence. It shows what I can do. It shows they don't want to lose me. I didn't get that with Tom. He wasn't willing to make the hard decisions like that decision."
Finally a reminder to check my live updates on Twitter at AGrossRecord.
I think Lisin's biggest competition will be Parenteau. I can't remember when a preseason will have so much impact on the direction of the team for the season...
