Sean Avery's right knee will be examined a second time here at Madison Square Garden, this time by the team's physician and orthopedic surgeon Dr. Andrew Feldman. Immediately after colliding with Ryan Callahan at the morning skate, Avery was taken to be examined by the team's assistant physician, Dr. Anthony Maddalo.
Avery did not undergo an MRI earlier in the day and coach John Tortorella said the injury was "not serious."
"He banged up his knee but it's not serious," Tortorella said, agreeing the injury was being considered day to day right now.
The Rangers may provide an update after tonight's game against the Red Wings.
