I would assume with the fact that two rookie defensemen have a chance of making the team, Schoenfeld becomes important in their development.

i wonder if this is management keeping a bit of a leash on tortorella's temper to ensure that game 6 meltdown doesn't repeat itself.

CP (Chris)

Guys, Andrew posted on his Twitter that Schoenfeld won't be on the bench. Schoenfeld can get angry, too, though. You all will have to refresh my mind as to who Schoeny was in a yelling match with last year on an opposing team.

I agree with Rogan, though. There will probably be 3 players from Hartford, and Gilroy, on the roster where Torts can use Schoeny for adjusting these kids to the transition and speed of the game.

Godwin

Was the Schoeny yelling match against Colorado in the 6-1 win?
That's the only one I could think of cuz I'm almost certain it wasn't against a divisional rival.

Mike

Sather and Dolan are lame. Why not bring back a respectable, fearful opponent in the Rangers... to have other teams fear coming into the Garden. Right now we are too politically correct, no yelling and cursing... please. Putting a leash on torts may be the absolute worst approach for this season. Other teams come into the Garden and have a lush time. I love the idea of us having a lil bark. Love seeing Torts get fired up, as well as "Jimmy". Coming to the play Rangers at the Garden should not be a showcase/stage for every other star in the league. It is not their stage, it is NY's. Ugh... There is something human about letting a little emotion out. There is something inhuman for constantly saying the right things, like a robot.

Godwin

I wouldn't look too much into this.
It's still September, I don't think there is a "clean" side of Tortorella.
I'm sure behind cameras and to his players Tortorella will be the exact same as he always has been. The game isn't played in front of the media, it's played on the ice at full-speed. I doubt they're going to put a mic on Tortorella during the games. They might, but they certainly wouldn't air it live.

Mike

Well that would be awesome. I would totally buy an uncensored dvd with footage of locker room speeches and practices. That was be great! Another thing I am thinking is Torts is such an outspoken guy, who does wear his emotion on his sleeve. But his captain is the complete alter ego. Should be interesting...
