Recruit Defection...
No, no, Rutgers hasn't lost one of its Super 19. (This is why I don't have the stomach for headline writing.)
Steve Beauharnais has transferred from Saddle Brook to St. Joe's of Montvale. His family moved to Teaneck, the change in schools made sense and even though St. Joe's coach Tony Karcich is a tad worried about the finger-pointers insinuating the wrong thing, this has to be a good move for Rutgers. After all, the strength of Karcich's tutelage is undeniable. Three of Greg Schiano's best defensive stalwarts, Ronnie Girault, Jason McCourty and Devin McCourty, came from Karcich.
I know it still way early but still nice to see!

"...the strength of Karcich's tutelage is undeniable." This needs explanation. Simply because three of Rutgers best defenders are from Joe's (and the countless others who have gone D1) does not mean "Karcich's tutelage" is the key factor in their going to the next level. Perhaps you are minimizing the talents of these players as well as the supporting cast that all star Joe's players have suited up with. Cooper Rego wouldn't have been ridiculously great if it wasn't for his offensive line, right? Last I checked, eleven guys played at the same time and head coaches had assistants, trainers, strength coaches, administrative support, etc. A simple, uncritical analysis of this kid's move and subsequent transfer is virtually useless for everyone but the RU coaching staff and die-hards with little better to do.
Speaking of uncritical, why do you uncritically accept the innocence of Karcich and suggest that the "finger-pointers" are wrong? Are you suggesting parochial schools in Northern Jersey (BC, Joe's, Bosco to name the big ones) do not recruit? If so, that is nothing less than naivete.
And while I am being Socratic, what are the finger-pointers even "insinuating"? Isn't that worthy of reporting? Your not a beat reporter for Joe's too, right?
I know this is going to read harshly, but it is not intended to insult or demean. Journalists have a duty to the public and I do not believe you are holding up your end of the deal here Aditi. The public-parochial debate should heat up because of this. It's a shame The Record does not have a journalist to cover such an issue.
