Arena says no to Figo
According to a source of mine, Bruce Arena will not be signing Luis Figo. Arena has plans and the Portuguese winger apparently doesn't fit into them. This is a bit of a surprise to me because another source told me Figo was very high on the team's list of targets. That was almost a month ago and things tend to change.
All that said, this could be a smoke screen as Red Bulls prepares to pry Figo from Inter. Only Arena knows for sure. I was totally sold on the Figo/Red Bull Park connection (tons of Portuguese just a few blocks away from the new stadium) and having Figo here would help Ronaldo's adjustment here. Now, I wonder who Arena has in mind to sign. If Ronaldo and Reyna are coming do you go find a big-time center back or do you try to find a stud central midfielder to pair with Reyna? Could Bruce seriously be considering Eddie Lewis (no way Red Bull spends a DP slot on him)?
Talk about an interesting off-season, and it isn't even December yet.
Figo would make a lot of sense for MLS but may not make so much sense for Bruce (given Figo's age/health)

Ok no Figo, at least we still have Reyna and Ronaldo. No Reyna? really? at least we have Ronaldo. No Ronaldo...are you serious? So that means we have Ronaldinho in the bag right? But seriously, where do these DPs go...if these are not smoke screens?

Reyna, signed as a max salary, no dp.
figo, signed as a dp.
second dp is going to be a surprise.
